I just bought my 69 SQB. It is in fairly decent condition, rust here and there... but IMO pretty nice. I was on the floor of the garage, looked under the car and I am leaking what looks like oil. I thought it might be transmission fluid... can't really tell. I got a good look at the motor area under there and there is oil??? everywhere. Looks like it has not been cleaned since it was installed back in 1990 as the PO says. I got to scraping off the chunks of crap caked on everything before I degrease the underside and noticed a few oddities. Does anyone here have any pictures of a 69 SQB motor/auto tranny? I would like to compare what I am seeing with others. My general question is... with this amount of oil/crap cake under there where would I be best served to check for leaks etc... Thanks in advance  |

I'd start by a good cleaning. Then you can start with the cheap stuff, ie valve cover gaskets, oil cooler gaskets, oil drain gasket. After that, run the car around a bit. Drive back home and check for leaks.
As far as pics, I have none. Is there something that seems out of place. You could post your own and see if anyone see's anything out of place. |
