So you just cut down the '53 and later bumpers? They look pretty cool. Did you make the banana guards yourself?
Very nice work. This car will be at the Classic? Would love to see it.... |

The banana guards are 38 chevy, then cut down. I think i might get the repros of the factoy ones later. |

Why Id leave it be. It looks good and people will be guessing all the time. You can tell them its a rare version only seen on proto types
Besides the real one looks like the rear was a step?

Yea, i didnt like it without the bumpers so mine had to have them. I also have a shot of the same car with a ambulance cross and a trailer.
That had to be a slow ride. This car most likely had a hitch too. |

That's a van I wouldn't want to get in the back of. Reminds me somewhat of one of the einsatsgrupen vans with the exhaust running up into the rear compartment. I'm not sure why. Perhaps the dark color. Looks better without rear doors. No offense intended, it looks totally cool only slightly scary. You do good work. It's good to see that there are people turning out QUALITY replicas of wartime VWs. A lot of the ones I've seen in person weren't worthy of being blown up in a movie. One even had the replica parts pop riveted on. Ever considered a re-hash of the wartime beetle pickup truck? That's one I've always wanted to see built since I first saw a picture |

Absolutely. I looked it all over Sunday and for a hand hammered dash, that was amazing. I loved the simplicity of it all, and subtle cues to KDF era cars (cut down bumpers, hand made bananas, canvas seats, letting). Now THAT kind of work could be a trend setter in the hobby IMO.
BIG props to Clark Customs for "stepping up" and not bringing the same old look to the show. We need more of that..... |
