Does anyone know where I can get some restoration work done on my bus in the general Chicago area? Even within 300 miles of chicago would be great! I am also looking for somone who can help get it running again . . .
thanks!

What year bus? What side of town? I live in West burbs. As you know, when it comes to resources for old VWs, we're on Jupiter.
However, go to www.vwshows.com & click on the "Shops" link, then IL. There are a couple listed. I've never used them but I've heard good things about Gil Doty, mixed reviews on Spencer's.

it's a 68 westfalia... we live on the northwest side of the city - but the bus is living about 40 miles south of town.
I'm not sure but I thought Gil Doty of Elgin closed his shop... and I've heard mixed tings about spencer too - but he seems to be the only one around. The bus needs some body work and things done too - and I can't find a single person in the area . . .

actually that area code should be 630, that 708 was from a few years back

Spencer's has moved from the address above.

I know a guy, Jack, who is EXCELLENT. His work usually wins awards at local shows. He's the only other person that works on my cars. Problem is; A) He wants to stay small, so I'd have to ask him before I could refer you. B) He's away on winter vacation till maybe March.

Go over to Volkswebbin, www.oroad.com/volkswebbin/ and see if you can get in touch w/ Darby Milnor. He's in the NW burbs. I've never used him because he is always busy, but very knowledgable.

I've got this guy's card in my wallet, but I don't remember him or why I have the card.

I'd love to help you myself, but I'm up to my eyeballs in projects.
