A new turn key engine is around 2 grand. The rest depends upon your definition of engine and pieces it contains. Rather than ask here, why don't you just loof at some advertisements? You can get an idea on ebay but everybody has a different definition of engines much less "run." Suggest you deal with people you know or that are in business. |

The prevailing opinion on thesamba is that your best bet when it comes to engines is to get Tom Wilson's book "How to Rebuild Your Volkswagen Air-cooled Engine". You can find it at online bookstores, and sometimes on ebay. Give it a read through, decide what you want, and have at it yourself, you'll get a better engine, and an idea of how it works and how to take care of it. There's a thread about a class project a 17 yr old girl is doing, and I think her 1600 cost about $1600, but I'll post the link here for you. Jeremy |

If you go reuild with a trade in, you can get one about $999.00. Granted, it isn't new, but it is rebuilt. Me, I personally just got done rebuilding an 1835cc. The guy who I originally bought the car from said it was just "rebuilt". He was full of s---. Noone cares about you, more that you, remember that. |

Ok thrilla. Take Ians laser and sell it. Then with the $800 you get from that, buy some of the parts you need (assuming you know how to build an engine???). By the way do you know how to build an engine? If not, you need either a new, used or built one. Like sellsw says, noone really cares about you (the buyer) when they build an engine. So even if you get one built (for cheap at least) it will most likly be crappy. There is this thing called the internet and usually you can search around on that for prices. |
