Please help me out guys. My wife is completely convinced that if she plugs the holes in our luggage rack she can use it as a bathtub. A. is this possible? B. would it be bad for the bus? C. has anyone done it our tried? D. any photos of this task would be nice. Thanks All for the help and great site.

Probably; but, it's alot easier to dig a hole in the ground and place new blue tarp in it to enjoy your bath or whatever.

People (bike riders) who go to Sturgis in August carry a small 2 ring blowup plastic pool to refresh.

It might certainly add some excitement to the concept of camping though. :D

I've seen a solar shower made from a big piece of like 4" or larger dia. black plastic pipe. One end has a screw cap where you fill with h2o, and the other has a shower or some such fitting,on/off etc, and it was just the length of the bus roof. We used stuff like this when I was doin reforestation and always out in the woods somewhere.

I'm sure it would hold water, but I seriously doubt it would hold a person long without breaking. And if it doesn't you might still get fiberglass splinters. Doesn't seem worth it compared to a small inflatable pool. I like the idea because it uses what you have, keeps one more item out of the bus, but seems higher cost, lower benefit than a mini pool.

May I hold the ladder as she climbs up and down to her royal bath.??--

Since the drain holes would be plugged to take the bath, I guess you could empty the bath water by driving down hill and applying the brakes and windshield wipers.

But to answer your specific question, no, I could not take a bath there since the luggage rack would only hold 1.5 inches of water before it spilled over the side, and I could not comfortably take a bath in that small a vessel

This may qualify for an entry for our Baywindow and Girls thread. :D

How about, instead...

Or, if one is willing to tow a small trailer behind, how about this portable...

OTOH there are lots of camping showers available.

Yeah, I know it's just not the same as being able to recline 'neath the bubbles, in a nice meadow, while sipping champagne. Life has a lot of tough choices.

gravely disappointed not one of you has posted a pic of your wife/SO bathing in the luggage rack as requested above. Surely someone has attempted this?

God gave us rivers, lakes and the ocean for a reason.

This tread is rather silly but, I enjoy these discussions.

Water is the source of rust. I suggest trying to keep water off, out and away from the bus more so than introducing it. There are solar showers that are a large bag of water which you suspend from something. That might be better...

You'd be better off hanging a solar shower/water bag/using a Coleman shower, etc. I wouldn't want that much weight up top- the fiberglass just rest on the metal roof.

I've got one of there http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-827b500t-Battery-Pow...amp;sr=8-2 and it works just fine. Warm some water up, pour it in a bucket, drop the pump part in and shower.

If by any stretch of imagination, planning etc. you should ever find yourselves out here camping in Western Montana, and your wife still insists on showering in the "Tub" or wherever/whatever, I would offer my services to act as bath assistant, towel holding, robe holder, whatever. Having said that I would surely reccommend the suggetstion to check out Colemans Hot Water on Demand set-up. In all my years of camping in what could be called unimproved camp sites, and that is what we have mostly out here, this set up is an absolute, 24 carat, bulletproof, whizbang.Comes with assorted attachments for spraying, showers, etc. Do yourself, and you wife a favor and go for it.
