Much appreciated! I'm still getting familiar with this site and your response got me digging a little more. Didn't realize this was here: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/usa_dealers_al.php
Thanks again! |

My theory is a plastic fuel filter in the engine compartment of a car parked there. |

This is the old Don Sharp dealership that’s being knocked down, I met the contractor and he said he will let take a few shots of it with my car, we will see.
This is the same dealership that my mom and dad got their first bug there in the early 70’s and also where I got these cool bathroom signs.

It looks like a pretty solid building to knock down
Either way, cool signs |

It’s about a quarter mile from the beach and if they build up with condos or mixed use from what I’ve been told they will have ocean views, the property is worth way more than the structure. |

I was doing some research for Ghent VW dealership in Salinas California and found some ads from the local newspaper. The grand opening is from December 1965. The other is a bad copy of the dealership photo. I posted a picture of the dealership currently on page 11 of this subject.

Not the best photo, but here is a Ghent dealer plate frame to match.

The plate from my previous bus. Bought it in El Cajon back in ‘87 😎

Well here’s some updated pics of the old Don Sharp dealership being demolished, notice the old green paint in the mechanic area? I also liked how they saved the old beams, I’d guess the two large ones were 40’ footers.

Would love to see something like this. Sure to draw enthusiasts. If you built it, they will come. :D
Of course, corporate VWOA will deliver a buzzkill by filing a lawsuit. |

Raymond B. Hoar VW in Saint Johnsbury, VT changed a few times over the years. It was Kelton VW, McCormick VW then McCormick Subaru in the 1990s. "They" bulldozed it flat. There's a Price Chopper supermarket there, now.
I drive past an old VW dealer on Route 23 driving from Davenport to Oneonta in New York. It was a small- ish operation. I'd like to pack it full of Bugs and Busses. 8)

This is a photograph from 1956 with the Fikes Volkswagen Center in the background. The dealership was on Fremont Street in Monterey. I believe it was there from 1956 until 1961. What the building is now, a car wash and a flower shop next door. |

Does anyone have any pictures of the gold split window that was on display at the old A J Pierson dealer in Orlando back in the day? |
