View original topic: Trike brakes-plugging holes in mc?

I recently had the opportunity to try out a VW trike which was excellent! I pored it over for a whole weekend with my dad and brothers. The body was made from a kit and the front was just an old honda 500.
Anyway, the brake master cylinder was from a vw and had one or two of the holes plugged. The trike uses the honda front brakes, so only the master cylinder only feeds the rears. My question is: where can you get those plug fittings? I can't find them anywhere and I could use some for a separate project. I am using a VW master cylinder for something that originally used a master cylinder with fewer outlets.
Thanks for any help!

I am also working on a vw trike. I bought a new mastercylinder and have not bought plugs for blocking off the other 2 holes. I was planning on filling them with bolts of the correct size.

I have in the past just taken the nuts off of brake lines and welded the holes shut works good

Bob, I was thinking the same thing today...LOL

Any brass, bronze or steel METRIC ones will work.
You can get them from Lowe's, Home Depot or
most auto parts stores.

If you have tried that with no luck, you will notice
they would be the same size as the brake line fittings
that went into the m/cylinder.

Those plugs can be bought anywhere. Seems to me
the people you have been talking to are in the wrong
business.

Buy an old bus or Beetle master cylinder that only has a single circuit

I have a single circuit master cyl., there are still three holes for lines.... I just welded the ends of the old fittings....

I thought the brake line fittings were a different thread from hardware store plugs. Are you talking about plumbing fittings or bolts? I guess I could take a line down to the store and see what fits.

I would just weld them shut but I don't have a welder or know how to weld.

Hi I ride a Trike and just finished my current one about a month ago. My old trike had the vw master I just purchased brass fitting "Caps" and that did the trick. I prefer a single MC but the double will work - think of filling one hole with your Brake light sensor.

Good luck on the build
