I just bought a buggy this month, I would like to know if there are any buggy owners in the Allentown/ Bethlehem/ Easton area of Pa.

Bunch of guys around. I'm not real close, maybe an hour and a half south, in the Downingtown area.

I am also from Pa. in the Wilkes-Barre area. I have a 71 Empi Imp soon to be roadworthy for the summer of 09'.

Bart, yes it was in fact the Imp that was on blackman street. It was sitting there for almost 9 years according to the guy I got it from. I don't know if you ever got to see it closer than from the road, but it was in typical bad shape from all the kids in the area jumping over that little fencegate and playing in it until they were chased away! AAAALLLL the wiring was balled up in the footwells and dashboard, floors were on the ground under it. Luckily the engine was so close to the gate, that no-one was able to reach it and do harm( the encroaching picker bushes helped too). Sadly, the oringination tag with the production # was already gone as this buggy has about 7 different layers of paint. It WILL be on the road next summer, I just finished rebuilding dp 1600 for it, now on to rollbars and saftey items. The body is currently on the floor and I have an entirely different pan with two new floors that I shortened last summer. Are you from this area? Have a buggy?

I was living in Nanticoke for seven years, now I'm back in the Pocono's. I heard about that IMP and took some pics a few years ago. I'm glad it's got a new home :) I have three buggies at the moment and I am one of the orriginators of dunebuggyarchives.com

Hey Scout what body style is your Imp 68-69 or 70-71? Do you have any pics? Does it have the tach in the hood or have side pods?

63scout Thu Jul 31, 2008 5:48 pm

The Imp I have is the later version with the split/hump between the rear seat area. It was sans the side pods and looks as though it never had them. I do have some pics, but they are only the before pics and there is some nasty ugly going on. I'm not computer savvy at all so if I can talk the wife into helping me for a small fee ( back rub ) I will try to get some posted. By the way I grew up in the Nanticoke area ( West Nanticoke ). I now live in the Sweet Valley area towards Noxen ( hold the jokes damn it, no sheep were ever harmed, just pleased ) I'll see what I can do about those pics soon, but they are nothing spectacular.

Glass, living in Nanticoke for seven years most likely damaged you for life, most of the people there now are totally addicted to crack or polka music. You may know me or some relative I won't admit to knowing. All kidding aside my brother-in-law just moved BACK to Nanticoke FROM the Canadensis area.

I HATED living there, absolutly loathed it. It took me seven years to get out of there. I couldn't keep anything, anything outside that was valuable got stolen and even when I was moving out someone went in the house and took my tv, a crappy three year old wal mart tv. I don't think that was the first time they were in the house either, CD'S would disappear. Shitty landloard, leaky roof. My van was sideswiped in front of the house on three occasions. The cops didn't give two shits. Ok I'm done ranting :)
If I had the money I would buy Nanticoke and pave it over - or tear it all down and let it reforrestate.

Bart, I have worked at the America's Body Company ( formerly Phoenix Bodies ) near the west side park there in Nanticoke for 14 years building dump trucks, ambulances, police cars and doing some 4wd conversions on med duty dumps and flat beds. We were bought out by Legget&Platt and we hated them for the last three years. Today, they told us that the 28th of August would be our last, they are closing it. I was the Union Chair at the time they took us but I declined re-nomination because they lied to us all through negotiations and I would not stand for another day of it once my term was through. My point is once again, a Nanticoke bone job, it seems like nothing can grow there but dope. Here goes a job hunt ! ( I believe that Reading Bodies has purchased the place and wants the Union out ) Oh well, I'll live.

If you did any type of electronics or wiring harness type things try the Depot where I work. They should be getting busy, (The Depo s fiscal year starts on October 1) There's two ways to get in, either as a Depo worker or through a contractor like my employer.

Get the hell out of that shittown.
