Hello,
Why would I show full, other than the wrong dip stick, when I put in 2 quarts oil? Anything? Did I miss something somewhere?
Engine code is a strange UW code and can't find it anywhere. Engine runs great but worried about the oil capacity as I want there to be enouhg. Oil light has not come on though.
Thanks.

UW Code? Is it a T3 block? Is the engine code on top of the block next to the split or below the generator? Does it have a regular dipstick or an adapter mounted to the front of the block for a dipstick?
The capacity should be 2.6 quarts. The easy method is to fill the air cleaner to the correct level,, finish that quart in the crankcase plus two more. Then, mark your dipstick for that point as full. |

Thanks.
The engine code is below the alternator. No adapter on the dipstick. It all looks very typical type 1.

After a complete drain, and I mean complete.... add two and a half quarts of oil.
Let the oil drain from the engine for at least :30 minutes. |

Why Rotella 15/40? Rotella 15/40 is a diesel truck oil. |

It's been covered to death. Rotella is a diesel oil, but that allows them to run some additional additives (like zinc) which it good for our air cooled vw engines. |

You guys need to check the newest federal regulations. The newest formula Rotella does not have any more ZDDP (zink) then any brand of regular gasoline engine motor oil. |

Thanks to all. Sorry to get the "discussion" of oil preference started again. Wow.
