The SC is taking a little break again. This time it is because I'm spending some time on this little trailer i got. You can check it out here. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=455427
I'm taking a family trip to Fla. in April and hope to have the trailer done and hitched to the Jetta for the ride.

But if you want to see it in person you'll have to head up to CTS. Hope to see you there.

Glenn A Fri Jun 24, 2011 8:58 pm

I've been spending some time on the SC recently. The plan is to run airbags now. The truck was getting pretty weak from all the metal remove in the rear section. I knew I was going to have to do this sooner or later. So I added a new frame rail on top of the old one by cutting all the top hats and sinking in a piece of 1 1/2" X 1 1/2" square tube on top of the old rail. clamped it in place and welded the whole deal back together.

=D> Alright Glenn, getting back at it!

BlastMasterMannyFresh Sun Jun 26, 2011 1:27 pm

awesome glenn, where did you get the square tube from?

Glenn A Mon Jun 27, 2011 6:52 am

I got it from a local iron work shop. I think it is Star iron works. Anytime I need structural steel I visit him.

I got the decklid carrier cut out and the new one fitted last night. Then "Dubstar" stopped by and all work came to a screeching halt. I'll get it welded in this afternoon and get some pics of that up.

Manny your welcome to the decklid carrier that came out of this bus, I'll put it on the side for you if you need it.

BlastMasterMannyFresh Mon Jun 27, 2011 7:10 am

Thanks Gleen, I'll take it with all the other stuff.

GarryA Mon Jun 27, 2011 11:15 am

About time you gave that SC some backbone. :)

dubstar Mon Jun 27, 2011 7:51 pm

I passed this on the drive home...

Glenn A Tue Jun 28, 2011 6:33 pm

The decklid carrier was waisted also. Although alot of metal is missing from this bus right now this is the last piece of rot to be cut out. Yay.

Anyway here goes. The Gerson panel wasn't exact it was missing some holes and the tabs for the wiring. So I added those details. It is also missing the seal channel. I still need to figure that out :( .

I'll make it down sooner or later but not this time around. I just dropped my "real" camper off at the beach. I'll be living out of that for the rest of the month. :D

Good news on the bus. I got a pair of brackets made and some other stuff figured out for the rear airide on this truck. Just need some time to tack it in place and check it out. No pics yet though.
