I am about to replaace the gas tank on a car thats sat for some time. The rubber line is old i am sure. what size connects to the tank then to the metal line. Also is that metal lone often changes. Does anyone have any info on this? Has anyone ever just run a rubber line from the front to the back? If this is possible what size would i use.
Thanks,

Don't run a rubber line all that way. You can run a new steel line. Mine is run down the driver's side and fastened up out of the way. Looks very nice. Don't use any more rubber line than you have to and be sure to replace all of it soon.
I am thinking 5/16" is the rubber line size but am not sure. May be 3/8". Take a piece of your old with you to the parts store.

Im pretty sure its 5mm. Get the Connitech brand cloth braided rubber line. Its made in Germany. I ran a new metal line through my tunnel. I used an American car brake line I got from a performance shop |

I just put a 1965 bug back on the road that had not been run since 1986.
The gas tank was crap, but the line through the car was fine after I filled it a couple times with carb cleaner, let it soak, and then blew it our.
I replaced the gas tank, and hooked it up with new flex line, and put a filter at the back. I got very little dirt in the filter.
In fact, it comes off the engine tomorrow, and gets replaced with a solid line.
Fuel lines on a carberated beetle are 5mm braided, or 1/4" if you have to buy it at the local parts store. |
