All that hoopla and they didnt even restore it correctly. No mustard vinyl and looks like a tan canvas top. :-&

I have a 68 Campmobile. Notchboy is right about the wrong vinyl.

Also, that vertical cabinet has been chopped in half.

Still a pretty camper. Wish mine looked that good.

Agree, some shoddy details for sure. I wonder why no engine photos? I always enjoy seeing the new Chinese carbs matched to the Chinese distributors and cheap fuel pumps. Bonus points for the chrome tin too.

But it's "matching numbers", surely it's 100% OG in there, why even look?

Looking into more detail it just gets better. Painter inner sliding door mechanism and hatch mechanism, too small tires, rear split bus slash bumper, monza exhaust, etc

The gift that keeps on giving...

richparker Tue Oct 23, 2018 6:01 am

For that price you don’t even get a spare tire.

Spike0180 Tue Oct 23, 2018 6:39 am

Man, I'm under valuing my bus. lol

Lack of detail leaves much to be desired. No flock in the pop top. Wrong color canvas top, white rims, gray carpet and that lovely paint job to the pedestals instead of using the correct available mats. All this shit easily done correctly. Cheapens the already ambitious asking price.

KentABQ Wed Oct 24, 2018 4:37 pm

Is the purchase price tax-deductible, for helping the hippie rehab effort?

Plus missing heater tubes,no engine seal, and incorrect door cards.

The old "Hose it all down and take the pictures quick" trick...the oldest one in the book (because the clapped out ones always look better wet).

And how did I just know the rack wasn't included  And the requisite "sorry" about it at the end.

Edit: to add pic.

And they don’t even know the ‘ hose it down and move to dry pavement “ advanced version. Doesn’t anyone even try anymore?

Hikelite Sun Nov 04, 2018 11:16 am

In their defense... I think I see suds on the ground, so it appears to be slightly more effort than a simple hose down.

Perhaps they had not washed it for several years in order to preserve the patina

This isn't a whine...
But I've been noticing more decent looking, lower-priced early Bays in the Samba classifieds lately.
My guess is people are putting them up for sale after they get their summer's use of them.

This is the trend I see at the Pomona Swap Meet as well. Prices go up in Spring, as well as the number of cars going up for sale at the end of summer and before the holiday season.

Do you think many owners don't realize what they're buying into? Or do you think many cars sold by people who didn't respect them require too much work (labor OR cost) to get them to an acceptable driving state? I would not drive 95% of the buses I see at the swap meet home from the swap meet.
