Last weekend, I went to our custom aluminum installer. although I did one already for the custom louvers of the middle window of Homey that is adjacent to the sink and burner, I was not able to post the pictures here and posting them would a history rather than an update.
Hence, I took pictures of how the louvers was made. But the main issue was that when the windows were opened, chances were, it would hit the middle pillar and opening the sliding door would instantly shatter the louver glasses. Ergo, the solution was to have a off set setting of the frame of the louvers. Meaning, the frame should be farther away from the sliding door so that when the same was opened, it would be away from possible damage.
Take note further that the mechanisms we used were ordinary once that are being used for windows for house and the design is somewhat different from those found on VW Campers custom made in UK.
In retrospect, this is the one that I am referring too that was made a couple of years ago that I failed to post the pictures of how we made it. As can be seen, this one is installed aligned to the pillars.
After so many measurements, the first lower frame was sawn.
The frame is getting its shape at this point.
And there you go, ready for its first test fit.
The first test fit was perfect.
These are the mechanisms that needs to be cut to fit into the frame.
After countless measurements and one time cutting, the mechanism fits perfectly.
both sides had to be covered and finding the right aluminum turned out to be difficult. But we finally found the right size for the right place.
This is the part that really got me worried. Fortunately, the mechanisms do not interfere while the sliding door was opened while the louvers were open.
Another angle that show how close the mechanisms to the pillar.
The cut glasses were ready for installations.
Inserting the louvers should be made with precision; otherwise, the mechanisms would be damaged.
there you go. The finished one! As can be seen, the frame is installed farther aways from the sliding door frame which was ideally okay to me.
Another angle of the finished louvers |

Last weekend, I installed my long awaited project of installing a relay isolator switch scheme for the auxiliary battery of Homey. This is simply but useful set up,it took me forever to have it installed finally. Because of my busy schedule, work, attending to court cases and pleadings, running and training for marathon, duathlon, road biking during the weekends, playing the guitar as my stress reliever and of course attending to my family, especially to our kids that are growing up at a fast pace, I never though that inviting them to a weekend shopping, going to the movies, etc., I would get no answer because they had prior scheduled with their respective inner circle of friends and classmates. Unlike when they were still young, they were always joining me and my wife whenever we were going out of the house.. How time flies...
Going back to the project. The installation of the relay for the aux battery would not have been possible had it not for the available topic here at the Samba. Although I am so sorry I forget what topic was it or who was the person responsible for the handy diagram; nevertheless, I was able to follow the diagram and was able to get all the nook and cranny of the installation process. To the originator of the diagram, my salute for you!
This the immortal diagram I was referring to that guided me all the way until I finished the installation.
First of all, I bought all the necessary parts for the installation which must be complete and using the correct parts.
The positive wire coming from the starter battery and going to the Aux battery. This also included a fuse box just in case that is a short circuit that would interfere the flow of the current.
the negative or ground wire had to be fixed too. Using a bigger wire will give a better charging.
The relay was installed in front near the deck lid. Although it does look out of place, but i prefer its position because it is very accessible just in case of any faulty wiring that may occur in the future.
For the connection on the alternator.
The wire for the alternator.
I used that male terminal so that I would not splice the original wire.
View of the blue wire install on the alternator from the relay that serves as the signal that switch on the relay.
There is the aux battery.
View of the starter battery with the visible wirings going to the relay then to the auxiliary battery.
I was not able to get pictures of the faucet and electric fan on while the engine was running and while the engine was turn off. I will post the pictures later.
There you have it. I very simply installation procedure yet, it will give you a weekend long camping fun with electricity supply that is worry free.
Next on the list is the installation of Solar Panel..
Thanks,

Hahaha. Thanks Buddy. It was probably the camera that made the illusion of left hand drive to right hand drive. Cheers@ |
