what's the difference between low light and any other karman ghia? why are they called low light?

The headlights are lower down on the fenders. They also have different style nostril grills. Those are the main differences I notice from the exterior.

Look at the Headlights and front wings, the nostrils and the rear lights- These are the obvious details- There are hundreds more though and if you really want to find out I suggest you type lowlight into the search at the top of the forum and start reading!;)

look at my cars. The left is a "lowlight" 58, the right is a 66

...incidentally, not only are the headlights lower but the front wing has a more rounded profile.
