| Great find. Just the way I like em...crusty. Looks like you need to finish some of those other projects so you can start that 54. :D It appears to be in better shape then KCW's truck before they started. Good luck! |

Very cool, congratulations on the find.
It looks like you have the original engine. I would be interested in knowing the following:
Your VIN #
Your engine #
The part # stamped into your air cleaner, along with some detailed photos.

| sure is a snake skin a "brown snake" skin also, one of the most deadly snakes in the world, only other thing i found that was interesting was an old half penny coin, australia havnt had pounds as currency since the 60's |

Thank you.
I think the engine # might be 20-880014?
Be careful with the rear engine tin, it's Barndoor Truck only because of the fuel line hole:

That does not look like a VW engine stamp.
My '55 Barndoor Kombi original engine:
This is the correct font and style.

| That looks like stamped dealer replacement case in the truck. |

I would agree, probably a dealer blank case that they used whatever stamp they had locally in Australia to stamp the original number back in. Maybe your original case was dirty and they stamped a 3 instead of an 8?
20-0880014 would be the correct month and year for your VIN #.
If we could go back in time we could know the truth... |
