I see that the Eastwood Co. sells this, but wondering anybody knows of local or chain stores that carry this product? thanks |

I know painters supply sells Evercoat products, but its hard to know if they have any in your area since you didn't post where you live.
I know Auto Value sells Auto body supplies and they sell evercoat products. You might try doing a google search to see if they have any stores in your area.
Evercoat makes some great stuff. Definitely go with a quality product. It'll make all the difference.
Good luck. |

There us a HUGE difference.
Rage Gold for most applications.
Rage Extreme for more horizontal applications (it "flows" and levels nicely) |

Evercoat products are very good. I used Rage Extreme from Eastwood, worked very well, virtually no pinholes. I don't mind paying for quality.

No, really it isn't. Rage Gold. a .8 gallon can is only $30 at the auto paint store. The time you save sanding and not refilling due to bad feathering or pinholes pays for itself. |

Bondo is Bondo.
Yes it is, ......OR WAS, Bondo brand bondo was SHIT in its introduction.
I've been an auto body guy since the early - mid 70's and recently needed a little filler for a project that I was doing on a Saturday.
My normal supplier of premium lightweight filler was closed, and I had to use Bondo brand from the auto parts store or wait till the next week.
I bought a gallon and went to my shop expecting to have a tough time with my new purchase.
I was delighted with the stuff so much that it is my first choice for filler now.

Don't "knock" it 'till you've tried it. |

bondo is good for "thicker" coatings.... polyester fillers like evercoat are better is very thin coatings... or use bondo as a base and evercoat for the final... course ive never done that so who the hell knows if it will bond to bondo... anyone know? |

I can get evercoat at my local O'reilly auto parts store but I've been using 3M lately and had good luck with a reasonable price. |

You should only EVER be applying thin coats of filler. Period . If you need it more than 1/8" thick after sanding then you have more metal shaping/body work to do first.
Like with paint, stacking brand B thin filler over brand A's "base" filler is asking for trouble down the road. |

POR15 has a body filler, I've never tried it but have heard good things about it from people that have. |

I used it over por-15 w/tie-coat primer. Haven't used anything else so
really don't know if it is better than the average bondo. It has held up fine
so far and it has been about a year since I applied it. |

figured as much.... i pop out the metal as best i can ALWAYS .. then only a thin amount of filler. fabricating a custom panel though so i can make a mold and THEN fiberglass the cheap bondo sure does work for that crap.

another thing to remember is that hardener and plastic filler go bad. It's always best to buy from a jobber that supplies the body shops. They will always have fresher product that walmart, the auto parts store, etc
and yes, there is a huge difference. most major paint companies will not warranty their paint if you use cheap filler. Also, all evercoat products work together, you can use the metal filler, top it with rage, skimcoat it with their product, etc. |
