View original topic: Need ideas for toggle switch labels.
Chad1376 Fri Oct 17, 2008 2:33 pm

I'm replacing all the stock switches on my Thing with sealed toggles mounted on an aluminum faceplate. This car will be parked outside in the weather, with no top, so I need switch labels that are cool looking and durable.

Old-school Dymo embossed plastic labels might work "OK", but I'm looking for something better.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

McKenzies has really nice labeling kits you can buy.

Fibertech in Santee has great labels. They are plastic with machine cut letters, and only $3.95 ea.

they make dymo label makers with ink letters. you can change font size and style. different type of tape. alot thinner and sticks better. they have come around. there 20-30 bucks at walmart. your talking about the old school raised letter ones?

If you wire them in your self really don't need labels to know what they do...

You will know them in about a week or so. I don't have labels on my switches and i know what they all do, just my 2 cents.......

I kinda like the no-label idea. I won't have a key, so it might make a good theft deterrent (for at least as long as it takes to run in and out of 7-11).

I have a "modern" dymo labeler I've been using to mark wires while I'm in process. Maybe I'll use it for temporary labels until I get some of the cool pre-made labels.

Thanks for the ideas everyone.

I can help you out with some custom cut vinyl lettering....... You can pick size, font and color. They can be either individual words pre spaced, or a strip of color with the letters cut out. Could accent it with a VW logo also!

Let me know if I can help...

Know a good pinstriper?

OK - I finished the dash plates and installed the switches. It looks like the K-4 Labels will fit - just barely. I'll need to wait until next payday though, since my wife didn't kill me for blowing $200 on switches - but it was close.
