So, it was an unbelievable discovery when I stripped the paint back to the original on my late 1953 Panel several years back and found the logos from Lido Dry Cleaners in Newport Beach with a little signature from Allred Brothers VW/Porsche in Glendale, California as well.
Anyway, while hunting on Ebay late one night Drew Colome found an NOS post card with a picture of my very Bus parked in front of Lido Dry Cleaners in the scene. I bought 12 copies of the card from the seller and gave one to my good buddy 10 Foot Doug the Head. It was sitting next to his computer and our buddy "Buttrum" or "Butt" for short saw it and Doug told him how the Barndoor in the picture was my Bus. He thought that was kinda neat and was floored a week later while walking in a bookstore and found that very image of my Bus on the cover of this new book on the stands. See for yourself and then tell me what the odds are that all of these pieces could fall together like this all these years later...

The Bus...

The logos around the decklid used to say "Jack's Painters", the second owner of the Bus...

The outlined logo during the stripping process. The painted logos were long gone but the impression in the paint was still visible so I outlined it with a Sharpie to see exactly what it said...

Very cool.

I still see that postcard on eBay all the time. I guess it wasn't copyrighted.

That's a very good idea but it's truthfully far down my priorities list right now. Just found out that my 1954 Standard just cleared customs this morning.

I hear ya Eric. I mailed them including pics of the Bus and called and left messages a few times and never heard anything back from them. I do know that they are still in business and still in the same location after more than 50 years.

i take it you live too far away to go down there?how cool would it be if you could go re-create the photo again once the logos were back in! :D
