My 1999 T4 Caravelle / Eurovan....

We bought her over a year ago to give our then daily driver Bay a rest! She has 7 seats which easily clip out for camping trips and is great fun, the 2 vans are so different but complement each other. Its a 2.5 TDI and flys! they are becoming very popular over here in europe check out this forum and see some real cool rides!!.......

Hi there, this is my first post here. :D

I'm living in Switzerland - Europa, on the lake Geneva's shoreline

My Eurovan is a '92 Westfalia California full camper, a model never imported in USA. It's the genuine successor of the Westfalia Vanagon.

I used to own a '79 Baywindow with a Westfalia outfit I had put up inside, an '82 Westfalia James Cook on Mercedes 207 and, when I was a kid, my father owned a TEC (Travel Equipment Corp.) '75 Ford Econoline F150 imported from USA....You can see some pics of them allHERE

OK, stop talking, here are pics of my beloved Westy California

Nice paint job, Jazzmaster. There was a T4 with a slightly stronger powder blue where I used to live in England. I think I would go with a bra for the front rather than the black guard above the headlights.

What year id your van? Gas or diesel?

Here's my '92 Eurovan that I bought from a German guy in Kelowna in September. Although he wasn't the original importer it was brought in from Germany at some point. I'd love to get some history of it as it seems to have been a custom off the production line.

It's definitely it's original colour (Bold Carribean Teal, or some order of those words!), and the original 2.4L IDI diesel with manual tranny. The drivetrain combination was important to me to keep the fuel consumption down and I am delighted that it did a return trip to Whistler (250kms) having used just 22 litres!

When I bought it there was a Westy style camper interior with the whole wall behind the driver was filled with cupboard and a lift up counter where a sink and stove should have been installed.

There was also a 2/3rd width bed and table which I have since removed to allow space for mountain bikes to be fitted in sideways.

I sold the cupboards (oops, closets) for what I know know to be way too little, and have the bed to sell on now to continue on with the project.

There are some mounting points which suggest it might have started as a 7 seater or similar with a rear bench/bed but with a middle bench instead of rear facing captain chairs and no sign of rear cuddy mountings.

Next on the agenda are fitting a MV bed and table which I have and a wood or bamboo floor with torch felt insulation beneath it and a 12 v cooler powered from a yetto be installed deep cycle aux battery.

Engine and tranny are in great condition since having a new camshaft seal, exhuast and front rotors fitted as soon as I bought her. The diesel isn't a rocket ship but delivers the correct relaxing style of driving one expects from these type of vehicles and at 165000 kms is barely run in.

Sorry it's not a Vanagon or a Westy but it's the prefect combo of reliability, sconomy and room that I need in a vehicle for the weekend warrior travelling I have planned. It's my 5th vw but first van and I hope to learn a lot and do a lot of maintenance and become more self reliant with your advice in the future.

Cheers guys.

My name is Corrie and I am from the North Atlantic. I have always liked VWs and was really first exposed to friends rabbits and buses etc that I drove or shotgunned while in school / university. after a few misadventures with cars I decided to go deutch myself.

I have owned several VWs, past herd includes a fox, mk2 GTI, and mk1 Rabbit Convertible.

Current lineup includes 06 GLI daily driver and the latest addition that brings me here is a 92 Eurovan Westfalia I picked itt up this week. requires some remedial work to pass the MVi, nothing serious just brakes and transmission pan. I intend on giving it a good going over to try and remove some of the surface imperfections in the paint and would like to get the bit of rust around the bottom of the rear window addressed while it is layed up for the winter. Plan to spend the first of many nights in it next weekend. The thing is near perfect inside; one small bit of the laminate is missing from the corner of the fridge / stove lid, amazing considering the age and mileage (252k)

and this is my brother's 1970 Beetle; I suspect he is online here somewhere.

When you want to spare your T3´s the hard wear of daily use: get a T5 :D

2004 130hp 4-motion Transporter cargo van.

When I got it a few months back.

Summer wheels, painted mirrors, painted all door handles and got new headlamps w/black surrounds.
