Sweet, So I can deduct $9000 this year. Man I will have a sweet return this year :D

It actually sounds like it is not deductible as living close to your job is not a requirement but a convenience. Just because they asked if you could live there doesn't mean it was a requirement. Some people ask that just to see if you like the area.

If your job requires you to relocate for short periods of time and you maintain your home residence then it can be deductible so long as your employer does not provide any additional pay for the relocation. For instance, a friend of mine was a restaurant manager and he moved to different cities to help open new stores. When there was no new store to open, he went back to his primary residence. The company stated it was a requirement for his job so he could deduct it on his taxes.

Then again, you could just take the Sarah Palin deduction. Deduct everything until you are caught.

Agree 100%. I've had one since 1999 and have a set appointment; same time, same day every year. She's worth EVERY PENNY.

Yeah, but then you union government employees can afford it! :D

I've always done my own and I've made mistakes both ways. They send me a check or write to tell me how much I owe!

Too bad they don't care about all the facts that a good accountant/proffessional tax preparer would to maximize the return in your favor.

I am retired, and can still afford a "Tax Lady".
She always figures the best way to go.
"Russ, You need to do more cash sales."

She's not really that expensive and maximizes me keeping my money. She did make a mistake once (had to do with Hawai'i taxes when I sold my town-house there  ). I got dinked for back taxes, but she paid the interest AND penalty out of her business and admitted it was her fault.

That is cool. You don't mind paying somebody their asking price when they'll actually walk the walk.

Problem now days, that congress has passed a law that Paypal has to report transactions. Anything that I do that goes through Paypal, is not the same as cash, and most of my sales do go through Paypal.

What's worse is when there is a chargeback, you are reported on the income, but not the chargeback.

That doesn't start for a few years yet. You still have time to evade taxes while bitching that the libs are going to increase them. :D

Why not have your wife ask at school instead of asking about your taxes on VW web site?

Agreed. Plus she knows her stuff and keeps up on any/all new laws and their effects on taxes, income, investments etc. I've sent numerous co-workers and my in-laws to her too. And with her doing it, I've cut my tax-season stress to nearly nothing.
