I know of at least one Binz out there missing this key piece. I'll do another run if I can get at least one other person interested in buying one.

That seat looks good. But I have read that not all Binz came with a back seat. Does anyone know how to tell it yours had one or not?
Not sure which Binz you know about with the missing seat but it could very well be this one.
It needs much more than a rear seat at this time. Maybe you could produce some detailed technical drawings of the seat and save them for future use? That way if someone was to request on to be made you would be far ahead of the game. Someone might even ask to purchase a copy of those detailed drawings. Think of it this way, you would be documenting a part of VW history. |

seriously? You couldnt make that for less than $950. I think the real statement should be......I "wouldnt" make that for less than $950. Because it sure doesnt "cost" $950 to make that.
I'm sure there is $100 or less material in it. It may be worth it to people that cannot fab things themselves but thats a big maybe for a piece that isnt even the real deal.
Or I guess you could just say its real....LOL |

Corey...I saw your ad as soon as it was placed and you even used pictures of my rear seat in it. I did feel inclined to help but the distance between us makes things a little hard.if you lived local I would have helped out long ago. With something so precious it is hard to let it go cross country...
Money motivates people...and for Greg to take HIS seat out and tear it apart make patterns and have a couple made is worth different amounts of cash to different people...for the people not owning a binz probably not 950 worth.. For someone owning a car that there is less than 25 left and to be missing that part with no chance of finding one and I do mean no chance it would be worth it I would think...no on ripped on Joe for asking what he was for the rear seat hold down brackets..and they looked good from the pictures but they weren't cheap either..I would have gladly paid what he wanted if I knew they were good copies...
With all that said I am sure glad mine was complete :D
It just received it's fresh motor this week and i sat in my back seat and had A few beers too... |

The rear seat was an option. Binz did not keep any records of these trucks so there is no way to know for sure if your truck came new with a seat. Volkswagen did not keep any records of the trucks after they left the factory as a single cab. |

Here are a few pics of my Binz from back in the day. I would guess it to be about 1989-90 or so as my daughter was born in that house but we moved about 6 months later. She is 21 now.
I built a 36HP motor for this truck from complete NOS parts, just wanted to see if it could be done. Most came from Bob at Vintage as I did work there for a time. Truck was sold to a collector in Florida later the same year, maybe someone might know where she is now ??

Thanks. Every thing about the repops matches the original I copied. There are no tabs on Binz rear seat. The "pad" is held in place with screws. The repops I did have all of the dimpled / recesses holes for that as well. |

Nope. Dan's was a suicide door. I do not recognize this one. Not in the registry either. Do you have any more info on it? Binz tag number perhaps? |

And is very rust. This thing looks very dry. I can't imagine that someone would ship a truck like this accrossed country in the 90's then leave it to rust. |
