So, I am stuck in LV tonight an not on purpose. Stupid airlines. What is something cool to do here not too far from the airport and not having to do with gambling?

Cheapo Sun Dec 21, 2008 9:50 pm

There are a lot of shows, but most of them are a fair amount of coin if you want to see them.

Where are you staying?

There is an old movie theater not far from the strip that has been turned into a venue for local bands...i think it cost like $7 to get in--to see 4 bands play a few sets.

Just wander around! Be careful where you go though. NewYork NewYork has an amusement park...and there are drunk chicks everywhere!

People watch. That's about all me and my wife did when we lived down there when we got bored and went down to the strip.

Good pizza place at NY, NY, or at least it was last time I was there.

Could ride the tram, but that gets old pretty quick.

We had about 2 hours to kill when we were down there a bit ago in the airport, and ended up watching TV on the laptop with the free WiFi at the terminal. Lots of wall outlets to plug into around that airport.

Then spending some free time on The Samba is a pretty good option.

There are a couple cool museums and exhibits near the airport. I don't know if body worlds is still at the tropicana but that's just a hop skip and jump from the airport. Star Trek experience, circus circus, the rides at New York New York and the Luxor. In fact I'm kinda fond of the attractions at the Luxor.

Stay away from the hookers and blow. I hear they are sub-par in vegas.

You're screwed that airport and town suck!

realbugfanatic Mon Dec 22, 2008 8:50 am

Star Trek experience is evil. I about threw up on some Samba folks there.

I wonder if he got his laptop stolen yet. :(

I have to go to LV for three days once a year in the heat of summer.
I don't gamble and I have better uses for my money than shows and stuff.
From the moment I get there, I can hardly wait to leave.

Keldog Mon Dec 22, 2008 12:58 pm

is it still snowing there? just stay in the airport and use the wifi...

EZ Gruv Mon Dec 22, 2008 8:26 pm

The Star Trek Experience closed.
Circus Circus is a shithole.
The rollercoaster at NY/NY is cool.
The Auto collection at IP is cool, but it closes at 9pm.
The Luxor isnt really the Luxor anymore; on the inside anyway.
The 'old movie theater' was the Huntridge Theater; long closed to any entertainment. Plus it's in a shitty neighborhood.

Just log in to samba chat and be done with it.

Ech. The coaster at NYNY bites. It rides so rough, by the time I get off the thing my head is killing me from hitting around. It's got a good first drop though.

Speed at Sahara is pretty cool, but it was closed when I last went.

I dont think we're talking about the same place then. I saw 4 bands play there over memorial day weekend...and the neighborhood wasnt all that bad...

Ninja Edit: After googling the theater you mentioned...i am certain we are talking about different places.
