Just some messing around in the snow. This church parking lot proved a bit trickier then we thought, but had fun none the less :D

If you wanna have REAL fun in the snow, try disconnecting one (only one) of your emergency brake cables. Had a ball one time with the hand brake connected to only one rear wheel (other cable was broken). Like having a turning brake. |

It's amazing how fast the heavy rear of a beetle will whip around... even on dry pavement. I've found myself pointing the other direction on a dry country road on several occasions! That was when I was young and stupid though. |

Drifting is uplifting!
I could never own a FWD car for that reason. I could possibly get away with an LSD equipped FWD car for summer, but no way I'd give up my winter fun. |

We used to do the same thing in a buddy's '69 Pontiac wagon - you could REALLY get the back end of that bomb to do some 360's! |

Took the kids sledding a couple of weeks ago at the local high school. They rode the hill, I sledded in the parking lot- with the Benz diesel. |

I grew up in Bellingham. When I first got my license, my dad took me to the KMart parking lot (when it had a 5 acre parking lot and nothing else) and we did slow and high speed drifting. I did my first 50 mph drift in my 69 beetle in that lot. WOW! What memories. |

Nice old bumper.. Something to grab on to.
Kids today do not know the joys of bumper jumping. All of these cars since the mid 80's have those formed plastic bumpers with no where to grab.
On those snowy days we would ski the school bus bumper for blocks.
Some parents keeping the skill alive and well in there kids.

In some states, that is illegal. "No towing behind vehicles."
We had some kids killed doing that. That and towing toboggans behind ATV's. |

lol, i wish we had snow here, that looks like fun
back to the original poster, thats how I learned to drive in the snow, dad took me to a parking lot, got out, and handed me the keys. Thats how I learned to drive stick too, took me to a parking lot, in the bug that I sold my bike to get, and turned me loose. I will be doing both for my kids when the time comes |
