In this list does the absence of the words "Valve stem" imply the rim was observed to not have the recess or does it mean it is unknown if it has the recess?
Also, is there a way you can confirm the 12/54 KPZ Welded rim? That is the only welded KPZ rim reported so far on this site that I am aware of. Thanks. |

It means the recessed valve stem is present.
I am not sure where the 12/54 KPZ wheel came from. I did a massive Gallery search to construct that list but did not keep references. I will try to check my own stash but they are not easily accessible. |

I have a single rim, dated 3/54 lemmerz, welded no valve stem.
Buba's riveted wheel looks like a welded center that had been riveted instead of welded. That's differant. |

guess I'll join the fun. I've got a single 1/53 KPZ, riveted with the valve stem recess. Seeing as I have no other barn door rims to match just yet I'd be willing to trade somebody if they are looking for that particular date. |

Learn German, mate!
The company was called "SÜDRAD", not "Fudrad".
"Südrad" means as much as "South wheel"

I was asking about the entries that don't mention the valve stem. I figured one option is you were infering that they have no recess. The other possibility is you didn't have any information about the recess.
Don't worry about the 12/54 KPZ rim. Since my last post I found another case of a welded KPZ rim so the "KPZ=rivets" theory is busted. When I get a chance I'll email you the info I gathered for your list. |

Yes, the absence of that term means there is no valve stem recess. |

3. 1/55.............KPZ..........riveted (unregular).......YES
4. UNK.............KPZ..............riveted.....................YES

Another data point:
..Date.......Manufacturer..............................Recessed valve
5/54..........KPZ.................riveted.....................NO
Also,
- In a different thread axle struwe posted that he has 10/50 rims that are welded with the recess. By PM he told me they are KPZ.
- In a different thread Tonny Larson says he has 5 2/50 rims that are welded with no recess. By PM he told me they are Lemmerz.
I have not seen anyone mention a Lemmerz wheel with rivets and therefore offer the theory: "All 16" Lemmerz bus rims are welded." |

On the wheel subject, has anyone seen a BD that orignally had mix-matched wheels?
Mine has 3 Lemmerz (dated Jan 53) and 2 KPZ (can't find the date stamps).
All 5 wheels appear to have original paint on them that matches the bus. |

Hello.
My 12/54.
8/54 lemmerz / welded / no recess.
8/54 lemmerz / welded / no recess.
8/54 kpz /riveted(3-3-3-3)/no recess.
9/54 kpz /riveted(3-3-3-3)/no recess.
9/54 kpz /riveted(3-3-3-3)/no recess.
My 1/55.
11/52 kpz /riveted(fully) /with recess.
10/53 kpz /riveted(fully) /with recess.
UNK kpz / riveted(fully) / with recess.
UNK kpz / riveted(fully) / with recess.
It is a question.
There are two types of rivets
as far as I know.
11/52 fully (mine).
7/53 fully (EverettB).
10/53 fully (mine).
4/54 3-3-3-3 (I bought It from arturo).
8/54 3-3-3-3(mine).
9/54 3-3-3-3(mine).
1/55 3-3-3-3(Buba).
Is there change time between October, 53 and April, 54?
Is having recess or not a timing same as the change of the rivet, too? |
