For the look and feel I went with these.
From Jbugs nice, but $$
For Hermine my hippy bus I will convert these to white fiberglass but I hate to loose the art.
I have 10 LED UV lights under the dash and they look good at night :) |

I will definitely be getting these in the next few weeks. Very good. Any interest in doing overhead panels/head liners? |

Like so:
or:
The master just needs a little fine tuning in a few of the holes for a better fitting product, plus I have to finish the holes for the air ducts, arm rests and the lower vent holes.
I also just finished the Bus firewall kits too:
'68-'71:
'72 is a one year only and later on...
'73-'79 Bus:
Every ABS Bus panel comes with the necessary hardware too!

looks great. If they are the same quality as the kick panels then they will be ultra top-notch.

I'm having trouble understanding where the firewall kits go. Can you post a picture or describe where they are installed? |

I think I may just need to order the door panels as well. :) I am expecting a huge shipment of your parts to arrive on the 30th and will post installed pics here.
The fire wall kit goes in the engine bay. |

They install above the engine in the engine compartment to act as a sound deadener. The stock was saw dust glue together press board and if it is still there....you are lucky.
There are a couple out there but no install pictures yet. |

Doesn't that define most aircooled VW's? |

I put carpet over my kick panels but those plastic ones look cool. |

You could do a modern, OEM look by using thin felt glued over these panels.
That said, I wouldn't do that to these panels until my kids are out of the house; these look easier to clean than any thing I've seen. (Though 1/4" birch with marine varnish would be as durable.)

SR....Thank you and I hope you had a great birthday...that cake looks good. But since I just got back from the DDS for a root canal.....& feeling no pain!
I recent had Octavio's upholstery shop do a test of their stock glues and vinyl covering the ABS panels and we found that to cover the ABS panels, it is best to sand them where it is getting glued with 36 to 80 grit sand paper to give them teeth. Plus it gets rid of the mold releases they use to make the ABS sheeting too.
It is up on my roof getting harsh weather testings right now! |
