I have a couple of questions regarding German license plates on the KdF cars.

Did all the prototype cars feature the same sequence of numbers? e.g.
IIIA 43005, IIIA 43012, IIIA 43021,

How were these number plates issues in order? what does the IIIA part signify? is it a year thing, or district related?

I notice the license plate on Hitler's Cabriolet KdF was IA148564

The cars at the opening of the factory, corner stone ceremony were

IIIA 42801, IIIA 42802, and IIIA 42803

Until 1945, IIIA was the numbercode for Stuttgart, where Porsche had his office. IA was the nubercode for Berlin. IA was also used in GDR for east Berlin.

Thank you

So then I would assume that plates for each city / area would have been handed out consecutively. Higher the number the later they were issued.

It would appear that your plate is missing one of these tax discs:

Do you have any information or history on your number plate?

.

Nice stamps. I don't think it's missing a stamp as it has no extra holes for one. It is a Stuttgart Police Plate and made in the 30's I'm told.

I came across these pics a while back on another forum that are of vehicle plate specifications from that era.

Know of anyone who has a tax disc for sale?
