"new" toys for my bus

Hello,
for the time when I drafted Beetle '58 wheel bearings and some little things I found in the trade of tractor parts and now also looking for barndoor. I was looking for cat eyes and rear lights and I bump into the steering wheel in the trade of tractor parts. It seems to me a very good replacement in case you can't find the original

Do not laugh!!!!! :D

Since I cannot read that link, how is the wheel different from a Barndoor wheel? It looks very similar to me.

It's 400mm, the same size as a Beetle wheel. Bus, including Barndoor, are 450mm. I saw these on German Ebay before and almost fell for it.

Perfect for when you gain weight, although not a big issue for a Barndoor since there is so much space anyway.

Maybe great for a later Bus? The 61-62 hump seat Buses sit really close to the wheel.

'ANTON LOHR
Großbäckerei
Wien
Wichtelgasse 45'

it was a bakery company's van in Vienna.
How did it end up in former Yugoslavia/Croatia? Bet in those times it wasn't easy to transfer the title of an Austrian bus to Yu.
Great it's gonna be saved.
regards from Austria !

It's just what I managed to read on the pic in German language.
There is no Lohr bakery in Vienna anymore, but hold your breath there is one in my hometown Graz.
I don't know if they are afilliated but the Lohr in Graz had a bakery/cafe just about 10 min from my place and I even was a company collegue with Mrs Lohr, the wife of the owner some years ago.
The cafe has been closed years ago but the bakery is still in busines in Graz.

Looks like a long restoration ahead of you, good luck

Ah, electrolysis!

That´s good, but a few hints to improve the results:

- use normal scrap sheet steel as an anode; not rust free steel. You get corrosive chrome ions into the solution which will make your item rust again as soon as the current stops.

- use a bigger vessel or plastic bucket and fix the item by use of grip pliers.

- place the scrap steel all around the item and connect the anodes by using crocodile clamps from the electronic shop.

- clean the steel anodes from time to time with a wire brush.

- Get the item out after 2 days (you will get black hands because of the chemically reduced microscopic steel ions) , spray it clean with a steam cleaner or high pressure jet cleaner and immediately rinse it with phosphoric acid (85%) . Just apply that with a brush when it is still wet.

- rinse with water 20 minutes later and your item is ready for paint as soon as it is dried up.

In that way I have always received the best results.

Regards,

Jurgen
