I do like your gas tank mount.
Probably, came off my AMC eagle, they use a fair share of mopar parts. Lol probably made in taiwan or something though.
I do not know if that filter was ever made in Taiwan. Parr Filters in Des Moines, IA held the patent rights. But then they were sold out to Mahle Filters back in the 90's. The metal can is the give away. The ones from Taiwan were plastic. Mahle dropped it from their line when they took over. |

Very nice collection! How is the Dax to ride on the street over there?
I have a CT70 that I'm toying with the idea of turning into a street legal cruiser, but I'm not sure how the small bikes work around vehicles. |

Very cool stuff, my first bike way back in 1976 was an Indian 50cc, that thing was way faster than the Honda 50 at the time plus it was a more true dirt bike than a mini bike. I just got back from the Buses bye the Bridge event were I took my Zooma. We had drag races in the parking lot with a kid on a mini bike, it was too cool. |

I had the little Indian, too. They had one on Pawn Stars. Mine was blue with a white racing stripe. It was around '72. |

Mine was less dirt bike looking. It had street looking tires and steel fenders. The number plate was fiberglass instead of ABS plastic. Cool pic, I'll look for mine. |

The front fender is steel with the white stripe, but that back fender was the famous Preston Petty "mini mudder" and so is that number plate, and I still have that too btw. :D |

Here's my "Old School 1970" Popular Mechanics Tom Thumb minibike that my father and I built some years back. I had the popular mechanics issue for years with the plans to build your own so we finally did.
Couple pics from the article.
And our finished product.
Here's a link to my build article with more pics: http://www.pnwds.com/t409-tom-thumb-retro-minibike-build

Hodaka Guy, I think we've met. Were you and your father set up at a Vintage V8 Ford Club swap meet in Spokane a few years back? I recall seeing that little bike, and you had copies of the build instructions with you. I never got one from you, and always wondered what happened to them. Any chance you still have a copy? I would love to build one of those, and I know where there is a small generator that uses that little engine.
On topic, I started riding minbikes and motorcycles in the third grade, as my best friend's dad owned the local Honda dealership. Started on Z50's, and graduated to an XR75 and multiple ATC's. Got my first minibike around age 10, and I still have it. It's a Whisperjet XL ,with a 3.5 hp Tecumseh. It finally lost all compression about five years ago, and it is sitting in my shed waiting for some love. |
