After more than 20 years of warm and dry storage this bus came into my hands. It was hidden all those years.
Doorcard jute decor from the Seventies...but og cards underneath :-)
It really is a big surprise that in 2009 it is still possible to find such an early bus here in Germany. The bus is quite unmolested and comparatively solid...not much work to get it roadworthy...if I hadn´t so many projects here... |

Thank you for your nice words!
Oh, yes: On what concerns "slamming and earlies"...my name says it all: Personally I only like it original style. I love 16" wheels and their look. And 6 Volts. I like them just the way they came off the VW plant. |

Yes the bus had some "improvements", but definately not a new noseclip. BTW: The nose is quite nicely preserved compared to it´s age, also from underneath.
Talking about improvements: The bus had gotten an old (must have been added in the Seventies) furnishing with wooden seats and two small bulleyes added on each side with curtains inside. These are equipped with SIGLA stamped glasses and decorated exteriorwise with splitbeetle headlightrings. All can easily be removed.

The History of this bus is a bit vague. It was indeed told that from the beginning it has been a firetruck.
The bus did not circulate the last 21 years. This is also documented in the (German) title. I was told, that even before that time, 21 years ago, the bus had been in traffic only a small amount of time and before that period it was also stopped for some years.
The backwindow is not original and it is difficult to understand that it has been hacked in as this bus certainly had an original backwindow ex-works already. |

very cool thanks for the pics.
you say the nose has not been clipped. It has bullet signals (which I know could be added easily at some point for safety) but I am wondering why it has the wiper shaft recesses in the top of the nose. Definately not original to the bus.
funny the bumper is not wolfsburg as the bus has been sitting so long...the original must have been damaged at some point and replaced with a 'hannover' bumper. |

| Ahhh, now I know what you mean. I did not notice that wiper base indentation thing. Well observed, Sled! Yes you are right, that together with the turn signals and the later ribbed front bumper might be an indice for a nose change indeed. If that has been done it must have been done very professionally and according to the internal prescriptions, as all edges including the bottomline are perfectly worked as from the Werk. |
