With the help from my friend Thomasz Sobkowiak from Poland i found and bought a very early vw chassis .
This chassis is from beginningof 1940 and it is very simelar to the chassis of the 38 beetles.
Compare the details from the 40 chassis with the chassis from 1945

It's amazing what is out there,
Do you have any plans for it, or going to keep it as is? |

does any one know what became of the 39 chassis once owned by darrell vittone of empi fame. then bought by frank kohlweiss in the late 80's early 90's. i seen it in the flesh. it had a 49 body on it. he sold the body seperately. then the chassis was bought by a well known porsche collector. last i heard it was back in germany? wish i would of bought it! but 15 large at the time seemed a bit much. i still remember his staff put a 36 in the thing bare pan and all no body and made it run and drove it in the parking lot of his store! o.g trans if i remember right? i seen the cog wheel on the frame and trans! gave me goose bumps! he had all the paper work on it i just can't remember that far back! he still has the motor from it that had some strange #'s ? never figured that out? :? |

I don't think so, Christian found a complete box of these in Januari on a dutsh swapmeet (NOS) If there is a cogwheel stamped on a part , that don't mean its KDF, I had a 50 standard, and the outside door handles had cogwheel stamps aswell ! there where a few part supliers that not changed that logo straight after the war !
But If I find Parts , that are KDF related, my thoughts are also going to Christian !But I thinks Thats normal If you have seen ones his KDF collection !
Guido  |

It was meant to be a joke! I have come across plenty of KDF parts. And yes this is Nos. I just want Christian and his Father to adopt me so I can be with his cars & parts, I will sleep in the tool shed like Cinderella  |

I have a jacketed K manifold, that was not made until March 1950, and it has cogwheel logos on the endcastings. |

There was an article on that car in an old copy of Foreign Car Guide that listed the chassis number. I checked it and the chassis was from a '44 Kubel. So there goes another myth down in flames. |
