So, I have successfully revived one 74 fridge and I'm working on my second. I have the fridge in my home, plugged into 120V and all wires connected where they are supposed to be. I have tested the current with a meter and can verify that there is 120V current going to the heating part of the fridge (is there a name for this). It gets hot, the fridge doesn't get cold. It's been plugged in for 24 hours straight and I have been tapping the coils (they are mostly all either hot or warm) and nothing seems to be happening so...
My questions....
1) Why do people cut the 120V wires going into the heating part of the fridge and connect them to the 12V ones (usually by crude means)?
2) If I were to turn the fridge upside down, do I leave it plugged while it is upside down?
I have been looking through fridge threads for hours..... |
