Alright, so I just raided a friend's BOR swap meet stash this afternoon, and I got some good stuff, but some other stuff I'm not too sure of. The two most confusing parts for me to figure out are posted below.
I'm guessing the velocity ring and mechanism below it are fan shroud related, and possibly 36hp parts? The label says "Classic, pre '58, $40." He apparently didn't read his own note and ended up selling me all the parts below for $20. I spent $65 total, but the rest of the parts were "no brainers" as I knew they would bring in 3-4 times what I paid for them.
The steering wheel is suppose to be from an early Ghia, according to my friends "Very reliable source." I've never even seen a wheel like this one, let alone in a Ghia. And I learned long ago to question most of this friends "reliable sources" as they can be off by a mile at times. This wheel may not even be VW for all I know. The splines are smaller and finer than the factory splines on my 1968 Ghia column. Any ideas?
I didn't look hard at the finish, but it is either textured, or lacquer checked (or both). The other spoke has matching style lines.
Notice the "threads" where the horn button would go.
