I wanted to give Marvel Mystery Oil a try with my next oil change but I can't seem to find it for sale anywhere in Canada.

Is there an equivalent product?

I have seen this for sale locally "Lubro Moly - MOS2 Antifriction Engine Treatment" and it is made in Germany. Is it sorta the same idea? Anybody tried it?

MMO has been around for years, tried and true, if it don't help a problem it won't hurt your engine.
Give them a call and find out where they sell it in your area:

Lubro Moly - MOS2 Antifriction Engine Treatment is not Marvel Mystery Oil. Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) is that black crap that makes CV join grease so messy. Marvel Mystery oil looks like automatic tranny fluid and is similar to liquid wrench.

No Lordco's in Calgary and tried Canadian Tire and they do not sell it anymore.

I phoned the number on the MMO website and he said the only Canadian distributor is Tru-Value Hardware...which also is not in Calgary.

Well it is Mystery oil after all.

Canadien Tire was the only place I ever saw it, but like you found out...they don't seem to carry it anymore. I get my supply of MMO when I go to the States now. Walmart has it there, as well as most FLAPS.

If your looking to use the MMO to clean the inside of your engine & lifter's, here are two more good well known products that will do as well.

(1) Wynns Friction Proofing
(2) Rislone

Maybe you can locate one of these two products north of the border.

If you run into a bind, and if worse comes to worse, I'll ship you a gallon of the MMO if you can't loacte one of the other two products.

Another one is Slick 50.

...although I've used MMO mostly and find it terrific for typical Vanagon sticky lifters.

I think Rislone has an excellent reputation also.

Warren--
Nyet, No, Nada, stay away from Slick -50.

It's garbage, and doesn't evem come close to the Rislone or MMO content.

This stuff will screw the inside of your engine up--at best.

Actually at the worst it'll foul up the inside of your engine.

dang, the way everyone here talks about MMO, I think I'm gonna drink a glass before bedtime!!!!

It's real good on rye toast (with seed's) & chunky (Peter Pan) peanut butter.

Just dribble it over the peanut butter lightly.

Mkae sure the rye bread is only lightly toasted.

Another one with a good reputation, at least on BITOG, is AutoRX. They ship so no worries about finding it.

A friend of mine used to constantly tell me how good MMO was for preventing sticking valves on his airplane........until he had to have the top end re-done due to...you guessed it........sticking valves.

Terry Kay Tue Jul 13, 2010 10:17 am

Obviously he didn't use it faithfully.

JPrato Tue Jul 13, 2010 2:09 pm

Yeah, that was it, he didn't use enough of it. I'll tell him that
