I have no idea. Looks like a full length pan was used. Not sure if it is an Manx. Did Meyers make a four seater Manx?
Yes they did, sort of. It was called the Resorter or Turista. The end of this thread has an article Bruce wrote that gives the history.

Great article. The one in the above picture has no roll bar, front bumper or top, but does look like it could be a Turista. Thanks Q-dog.

Anyone care to guess what kind of bus? Bay window or non-VW?

VW_Jimbo Tue Oct 26, 2021 10:38 am

That is a Square back off to the right.

It looks like the kid is wearing two different style shoes! (odd angles... it's Steve's left leg, not the kid's right leg)
Anyone know who the kid is?

Door glass does not match split or Bay, so I say non-VW.

Reinforcing ribs on the roof, definitely not VW.

Ceckert64 Tue Oct 26, 2021 12:00 pm

The bus looks a little VW in the back but the roof and side window aren’t. Maybe it’s a matador bus, those look similar to split buses

Well, "maybe" the boy is Mr. McQueen's own son Chad. McQueen was in Europe to film his epic racing movie "LeMans" for 1970. Chad would've been 10 years old and was with his father for 4 months during the filming. The S'back has German Munich (single M) license plates. The Porsche is likely the slate grey 911 S which McQueen drove during his time in Europe as well as the one seen in the beginning of the movie. The van is likely a French Peugeot J7 with side sliding door.

Based on the rounded beltline a few inches below the windows, I'd say it's a Renault Estafette instead.

Renault, Citroen, all things considered, they canceled each other out because…well, 3 lug nuts are a disaster if one goes awry, the other.. you know.
