Another piece of my collection. Got it from a closed VW dealership.
Reparatur-Annahme = repair reception / repair registration
Probably not original VW, but vintage and matching with the VW signs in size and color |

Great piece. I love the custom dealer one-off signs. Here is a similar one I just purchased. The makers mark is visible as well.
Makers mark:

To bring this full circle, here is the above sign as it would have sat under a service sign (or similar sign with the flat bottom):

Back in 2012 there was a pretty big discussion in this thread about this sign in particular and whether or not is was real or a reproduction.
It was noted at the time that there are actually two versions of this sign, the one above and this one below which has a thinner space between the V and W as well as a makers mark. This version of the sign meets the ratio requirements VW required at the time:
It was also mentioned that there were no other examples of VW literature/signs that showed the text overlaying the VW logo like this sign. I just happened to come across this photo recently (Thanks Lind) which shows exactly this:
I still think we have what appears to be an original sign (the one with the correct gap between the V and W and a makers mark) and then a reproduction done much later. |

Thanks. I've been looking for a dealer add-on sign for my DIENST sign for a few years and this one came up. The DIENST sign came out of Auto-haus Robert Koch a number of years back. |

Porcelain/enamel sign from an old dealership here in Australia. There were neon tubes on the sign originally, but they are long gone.
Photo credit for the 2 old pics goes to Simon Barnfield.

What a score! Looks to be double sided, any idea where the other side is? |

That's the one. My large DIENST sign and this one both came from Auto Haus Robert Koch:

I only got one of the two that came from Robert Koch Autohaus. The other one went to a German friend.
These were posted a few days ago, some nice dealer add-on examples here:

I love the pennant chain as well.
Have two of them in my collection, one NOS still with the protective
papers between.
They were both made of truck tarpaulin, and intended for outdoor use,
e.g. at the exhibition area

Found these at an antique store stuffed in the corner. Not sure if they are actually VW corporate or dealer branding... but the color and graphics seem similar.
These appear to be two-side painted rather than porcelain. Any idea if these could be dealer signs? How would I know? Metal is heavy gauge. Size is 24”x6”

All of the arrows VW used had a different shape for the arrow head than the ones you found:

Still cool signs, just doubt they are VW. |

Wanted to post these for awareness. These were for sale recently (the guy had three of them) and were being sold as reproductions (and priced accordingly):
These use an original makers mark but were definitely made much later (probably in the 80's/90's). Either way, cool looking reproduction sign. |

No signs, but original dimension sheets from the 1950s. These were available from the VW advertising department for those who wanted to make their own signs or facade decorations.
I have made one number unrecognizable in each case, because I want to see in case my scans are used somewhere else. Sorry ;-) |
