The one going into the booth looks like one I used to own. It had 14K miles on it when I got it.

The green motors I think are the little 6 bangers. Box cars full. Those were 348's.. the 409's didnt come out until 61 or 2. I want the White Impala with the red interior. Sweet! |

What plant is that? Was Van Nuys making them back then (before the Firebirds and Camaros later)? |

The above photos were from the Chevrolet Factory In Tarrytown, N.Y.
1996 – the village of North Tarrytown officially changed its name from North Tarrytown to Sleepy Hollow.
1996 – the General Motors plant closed. The village plans to limit construction on this prime river front area to residential and light commercial buildings and water-related enterprises such as marinas.

Not too far from Tonawanda where my first car's 396 was built! Given the age of those pics, those are 348's...which is the engine Brian Wilson recorded for "409" way back when. Those were the days... |

Dearborn plant...known as River Rouge, when constructed was the worlds largest industrial complex...In 1931,Iron ore, coal, coke wood sand and paint chemicals went in and Model A's came out...Power plant, steel mill foundry, machine shops, assembly hall... you name it all on one piece of land.Ford attempted to control all aspects of automobile manufacturing with no subcontractors...to no avail. River Rouge is a monument to American induustry and was studied in depth by the germans when Volkswagenwerk was created... |
