This were the Spring-Loaded tubes- hoping it is not TOO big a deal to fix

As far as the aircleaner bracket goes: A bit of research shows the I'm missing the bracket UNDER the bracket that I already have :? It's the one that doubles as a support for the balance tube and turns 90 degrees for the aircleaner bracket :?: :!:

Jason? I know you're close to this stage with your motor-- got an extra?
Joel?

ISP?

Bueller?

Ok - climbed under the car and discovered the oil leak source(s)

Look- #3 is split and the other look deformed or squished with sealant.

Hope to pull lower tin and get at this problem...

Other side is totally dry and sealed with the same style of collapsible tubes

Tram just had to replace a split/leaking New solid pushrod tube on Dan & Neena's Bus.

Glad you made it home. One thing, check your accelerator cable against the back tin piece as it looks to be rubbing against the cable outlet piece. May be bent a little.

Good catch - I thought was supposed to be at an angle- wasn't sure.

Just grab with pliers and bend?

Maybe lite taps with a rubber mallet to get it where you want it.

What pushrod tubes are those? I'm used to seeing a bellows on the ends (stock). I'm wondering if those are set up too long.

The springs are just out of sight to the left - they are the two part collapsible tubes - not solid

dc Tue Aug 08, 2017 8:33 pm

Here's the piece I'm missing to make the air-cleaner work:

Anyone out there have this part?

dc Sat Aug 12, 2017 10:19 pm

Got that bracket - thanks to Joel :D

So the air cleaner assembly is all back to stock - this makes me happy :D

Tomorrow - I plan to change the oil (break-in procedures) stop some leaky pushrod tubes and dial in the state of tune 8)

dc Sun Aug 13, 2017 2:19 pm

For my notes:

14828 - Car comes home (likely installed with 18425)
14836 - Top off gas tank (gauge is not working - touchy wire)
14850 - Changed to Stock Aircleaner and Changed oil (some minor metal filings typical for break-in or so I've been told)

Next break-in oil change and set valves-
15125 (300 from new)

I may change the oil again before 300.

Out driving around today - School starts up on September 6th so I went by to get some work done on setting up my classroom :?

Our site is under construction - we are getting a massive remodel / new facility :D

Truck is running well.. still leaking a fair amount of oil because I haven't fixed it!

Looks like I have a poor quality filler tube - it's leaking in addition to the pushrod tubes :(

dc Sun Aug 27, 2017 1:44 pm

Update -
Got some shop time this morning:
14925 -
Re-sealed pushrod tubes on the left side, flipped them around
Changed Oil
Replaced Oil Filler Tube
Applied some undercoating on the pan while it was up in the air
Set Valves all around

Hoo-ray! 8)

Truck is not leaking oil!!!!
Runs Great!!!

Finally - it was last summer that it started running "weird" -

So. yesterday I drove to my neighborhood garden center/nursery:

Guess what I found--- no plants or trees or garden supplies but this nasty project car:

Not a good time for me to pick this up but I thought you all would enjoy seeing it! I have the details if your interested. It's listed on Seattle Craigslist as well.

It has a clean title... '66 Squareback - Fat Trim - The car is pretty complete, rusty pan and parts of the body. Smashed up- probably from when they dragged it out of the field/blackberries  Anyway.. :?:

Thanks!

Not upside down, but it definitely sits weird- it's a '69 hood that I just put an early handle on. Maybe I did it wrong :?:

all about the aerodynamics.............

notchboy Fri Sep 15, 2017 8:46 pm

Yes it should be level not pointing down.

dc Sat Sep 23, 2017 5:21 pm

Re-worked the bed cover to reduce weight and used black convertible top material instead of the vinyl.

Took it to a mini-truck show   :!:
