i'm in the process of troubleshooting a few minor issues left over from my recent engine swap in my '86 westy.
i run a really nice auto meter oil pressure gauge with a sweet setup in which the sender mounts directly (through a small adapter) into the spot previously occupied by the oil pressure switch between the pushrod tubes. however, when i moved this setup over to the "new" engine, it leaked, presumably because i reused the crush washer that sealed between the engine case and the thread adapter (that the 1/8"npt sender screws into).
if i recall correctly, the threads in the case are M10x1 non tapered, so i am assuming that teflon tape or some other sealant will not fix this very slight drip that i'm experiencing. i'd really like to just replace the washer, but i can't seem to find a replacement anywhere. mcmaster-carr and fastenal have aluminum washers with the correct ID but waaay to huge of an OD. local hardware store and auto parts store had nothing. volks cafe says that the washers are captive on the oem switch and not sold individually.
anyone have an idea where i could get one?? and what the correct torque is to get the seal right? |
