Does any one know where to get an og or repo rear rubber buffer for the 67 mirror. Can some post pics of theirs as well. Thanks.

My 67 did not have one. Yours is chrome, with the offset mirror head?

OG Velvet Mon Jun 08, 2009 4:10 pm

My late 67 has it. Fortunately, mine is still good.

Yes, mine is chrome with an offset head. (67 Deluxe...That's for you  )

Chris,

I might have a NOS one in my stash. I will let you know.

npbusguy Mon Jun 08, 2009 5:16 pm

If it is part number 241-857-503, I have one, let me know if you still need it.

Snoop Bob Mon Jun 08, 2009 5:30 pm

Neil,

If that's it I need it. I'll see if I can track down a part #...anyone, anyone?

241 857 503 = Rubber buffer - rear view mirror from chassis no. 215 099 006.
The real question is why I would have this weird fat chick part in stock!

Snoop Bob Mon Jun 08, 2009 5:51 pm

According to the transporter parts list that is correct sir. Sign me up. Glad that is not a one year only part also.

It sounds like I may need one too, if you have two.
I need to check my VIN tonight--early 67 bus.

Oh no he dident!

Did Neil say "Fat chick" about a '67 Splitty? Sheeeesh!

Neil, where the hell were you during the Funfest weekend? We missed you, well, until you made that last comment...

Snoop - love the new avitar.
Woody - I only had one and snoop bob got it.
Bill - I got hornschwagled into going to a family event that sucked. Trust me, I would have rather spent my time camping with the St. Louis crew. Were you rolling with a new engine this year?

Snoop Bob, when you get this installed, would you add a photo of it to the thread? I wonder if my bus ever had one, because the Westy curtain tracks touch the mirror base on both sides. If it projects past the mirror base, there is no way it would fit. My VIN is 237 033 XXX so it sounds as though it is supposed to be there? Thanks.

Thanks.

Snoop Bob Fri Jun 12, 2009 5:46 pm

Absolutely...If anyone else has any 67 mirror pics with rubber buffer please post them. Thanks.

I went and had a look at the 67 kombi and there is no rubber buffer, (1st time I've even heard of it) but there is a hole just behind the mirror and I can tell there used to be something there. I step into the garage and check the 67 Deluxe and sure enough theres the rubber buffer. Looks as though I need one to? I'm not quite sure why, I guess because there was one, although I've had the bus for, 14-15 years and have been unaffected by its absents. but that damn hole will drive me crazy now that I know its there without the rear view rubber buffer installed.

Major Woody Fri Jun 12, 2009 6:00 pm

I wonder if it is some sort of vibration thing. My mirror doesn't vibrate, though. Is it just flat rubber? Could I cut one out with an xacto-knife? I have some rubber left over from rebuilding the air deflector flaps in the overhead vent box.

Snoop Bob Fri Jun 12, 2009 6:05 pm

Looking at the hole and not having one in hand, I'm wondering if it's not similar or the same as a gas door buffer or the cargo floor hole plugs. You guys know what I'm talking about. Without having it in hand yet, I'm thinking it may be similar or at least a good stand in.

Buckly Fri Jun 12, 2009 6:45 pm

Its close to the gas door buffer, but about 10mm long.
I'll get a pic up in a few minutes.

That would be a good one for a "What the hell is this part" forum.
to late now.
