In honour to all the dad's out there that are spending their Father's Day under/ in/ behind their vans!

When I brought home my first Westy last fall, my wife was not impressed. It goes back to 1995 when I borrowed a buddies van and took my wife (then girlfriend ) on a camping weekend. It was a great 4 days until on the drive home 200 miles to go when I blew out the engine. Fortunately we were able to get home via an expensive taxi ride, she had to be home that evening to catch a flight to attend a work function. The van came back on a flat bed a couple of weeks later. Cost a small mint to fix. Needless to say it left a bad impression about Westy's. Bringing on home didn't help.

The past winter has strained the marriage as I spend numerous weekends working on the van with the promise that it would be all worth it. My 3 1/2 year old son on the other hand has been on board ever since I brought it home. We spend almost every night at tuck in time dreaming about camping and sleeping in "The Van". We would simulate camping in the front living room and I even built a mock van out of cardboard boxes.

Since I have had "Wesley" (Christened by my son) back on the road, he is obsessed with going everywhere in it. We have to put him kicking and screaming into our Honda to go to school. I had to promise him to take him to school once a week in "The Van". The weekends are spent solely driving in "The Van".

This morning, I was allowed to sleep in until 0830 am in honour of Fathers Day. At 0831 I was awaken by my son jumping on my chest demanding to go out for a Timmies in the van. For those of you in the lower 48 and Hawaii and Alaska and oversees this is the Canadian way of saying going for coffee. Timmies stands for Tim Horton's which is a huge coffee chain in Canada.

As my wife observed my son and I interacting over getting ready to go out in "The Van", she gave me the "Big Nod" which I interpreted as "OK, you were right about the van".

Long live Wesely!!!!!

Have to get back to the garage. Getting ready for a fuel line change out, kit coming from GW, have to a look at the sky light small leak, oil light flickering think it is a short, left wheel bearing ticking on right turns must be reset and need to pull the fridge again it is acting up.

Happy Fathers Day
