I hate starting new threads on stuff that may have been covered, but the closest I could find was Todd's thread on the SO 33 table here... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=335364&highlight=table+install
I've searched the gallery for SO 23 pics, but I have not been able to use a search term that will bring a picture I need up. I'm sure there's one in there, but they are not always labeled. My LEAKOIL co-horts with SO-23's are not close by.
I need to mount the table "lock?". (Is that what it's called?) Does it mount directly on the side panel? Or does it mount under a 1" X 2" horizontal board that I see in many pictures?
Does the board serve any other purpose? This thing was in pieces when I got it.
Here are the pictures of my bus...
Does it mount directly to the side panel? (I have a metal sheet underneath the baltic birch)
Or does it mount under the wood strip?

Sean,
the catch is attached to the backside of the ledger. I can take measurements if you need me to.

Appreciate that photo. Measurements would be great, if not too much of a hassle for you to post them. I never would have guessed it mounts on the inside. Glad I asked.
Is that the only purpose for the "ledger"?
How long and wide is the ledger? is it a peice of 1" X 2"? Although I can approximate it by the location of the table, how far down from the edge of the panel is the ledger board mounted?
BTW, nice origihnal interior fabric.
Again, many thanks. |

Thank you. The interior is 100% original to the bus (June 30, 1959). The ledger seems to serve as a spacer for the table when upright, as well as a mounting point for the catch. I will take measurements and post them. |

Here are the dimensions. The thickness of the ledger is 1 inch. Hope this photo helps. I thought it was interesting that all the screw slots were aligned horizontally (those Germans and their attention to detail  )

Here you can see the routed recess for the bracket base on the backside of the ledger. This allows for lateral adjustment when aligning to the catch on the collapsible table panel.
