Has anyone tried this? I'm curious what effect the LEDs might have on the needle itself. I'm imagining something pretty cool, and I want to know if I'm right! 8)

That would be Sven's kit. I haven't purchased his kit because #1: he doesn't have a kit for late models yet and, #2: I already had most of what I needed. So, I purchased only TS, oil and generator LEDs from him.

Keep in mind that he doesn't yet offer a blue for high beam, but all his other colors are available in reverse polarity, which is required if you want to use them in the applications I did. Standard LEDs will not work there as a plug and play application.

That having been said, the speedometer in my '69 has been completely converted to LED. I love them. And Sven's colored bulbs are bright (almost too bright) and vibrant. New gels help at the same time.

I still need to experiment with the night light bulbs, because LEDs come in different brightnesses and dispersement angles. They do not glow like stock bulbs and, therefore, may not give you the same degree of illumination where an early model speedo use only one bulb for it's night light.

All in all, I am very happy with my LED conversion so far, but plan an attempt to make it even better. I don't yet have any pictures of my "after" look, but my camera isn't of decent enough quality to due it justice anyway.
