My sis sent me video of 2 busses that are sitting on the back 40 of her piano students parents house. What years do you think they are? Guessing mid 60's on the 2 tone and 55-61 on the red one?
Hopefully my video posting works, never tried it before. |

yeah the 4 bumpers in the '67? gotta be worth atlest 5 or 6 dollars, atleast one was a pointy that I noticed. And re: not enough footage of the red....I know I was bummed when she didn't make it around the back of the red one. The remnants of bullet turn signals and the skinnier rear hatch denote 55-61 though? |

Looks like the red one has no cargo door recess on the forward door. So, my guess is pre 58 |

Gonna agree with IN2RUST and add I think it's a PG/SG bus....check out the footage when they open the cargo door, you can see the paint in the door jamb... |

I see that now if you pause it a 4:01 you can clearly see the palm/sand green in the door jam and the flat cargo door handle area. |

You guys are super sleuths! Next unsolved murder I come across, I'll just post the info here and you guys will have it solved lickity split.
Now I have to figure out how to trailer them out of their present location, the 67 might just need wheels, because the transaxel was there. The 55-58 looked to be sittin' on the ground axel-less. Really not sure the older one is worth it. Both I'd be getting for parts and it looked thoroughly stripped, except for windows, doors and that grab handle on the dash. Hmmm. |

The red one might be worth getting just for the rare plywood windshields. |

If you end up buying them... Get video footage of the rescue.
I'm interested in seeing how other people handle non-roller extractions.
I have a heavy duty cart that I put under the bodies and strap them tightly but the wheels usually sink in the soft dirt. Thick plywood usually helps.. NOT partical board (OSB)
My winch on my truck can pull any VW out of it's grave even with no wheels.
I have also jacked cars up high enough to drive the ramps of the truck or trailer under it and then started pulling with the winch.
Good Luck! Hopefully they come out relatively easy in as few pieces as possible! |

After thinking about the footage, I think the reason the steering column was laying in the back of the bus on the '67 was because the front axel is gone.
So my plan of attack since I don't have a spare front axel(just saw one advertised on craigslist a week or 2 ago but the ad is gone now) is to bring some 4x4's long enough to span the width of the trailer, jack and block, jack and block until it clears the trailer fenders. Pull in under it and kick the blocks out...(just kidding), then do the reverse to lower it down.
It will take a while, and I might have to go with 4x6's instead of 4x4's as the span will be fairly long. How heavy is a bus minus front axel and engine? |
