I picked my shroud up for $100.

The go-fast guys love those shrouds. You lucked into a good deal at $100.

yellow73kubel Wed Jul 01, 2009 10:36 am

Yeah... Last time I saw a '73 shroud in that condition, it went for less than $150. $300 is ridiculous, that thing is rusty, slightly corroded mild steel not gold!

True!

There is someone in Germany who sells those for 79 (or 99?) euro /piece. So the asking price of those offered for sale in France is a bit to high.

Well, he once owned a German military staff car bug with flag holders... so he knows what he is talking about.

Even if it was the last German NOS, the price is way too high. For restoration purposes, you better buy cheaper mexican NOS or repro.

"The part cost me $1700"
Was there $1500 cash in the box with it when he bought it?

"plus the logistics of getting back to the states over fifteen years ago."
I forgot about not having planes or shipping companies back then. I've had carry on luggage bigger than that box. Should have shipped it with the staff car.

"I know to a lot or even most it is priced way to high, but to some one it is just right."
I think I know who that someone is.

Lots of previous Samba activity on this one. You would think that an "uber restorer" of VW's would have been on the Samba before.
