Owned this '57 Rometsch from '74 -'77. Sold it to Gary Longworth of KDF vintage parts in Glendale CA. Have not seen it since. Does anyone know where it is?

Hallo Mozart,
What a coincedent you showed up today.
Last week I shared some information with Oystein and Eric from the Rometsch registry and actually yesterday we had a discussion about this car. They also don't know for sure who ownes it now, but think Mark M ownes it now.
Do you know which bodynumber this was? If so, they probably ID teh current owner.
Regards

Hello all,
I currently own #252 and the restoration is almost finished (just the top is left to finish). Not sure if it is this one previously owned by Mozart, but would be interested to find out more. My car was purchased from Blue Nelson, after he failed to restore and deliver it to another buyer as promised. I don't know much more of the history. I am planning to take it to the Treffen show in Anaheim this fall.

Patrick,
Here's another photo of the Rometsch Sorry, I do not know the body number. Didn't care to "want to know" at the time, but I do know it was a '57 with a roller pedal gas pedal. I'll have to do some digging or the chassis #.
The car was originally purchased from Precision Motors in Beverly Hills by a radio personality, the name of Dick Whittingthill of RKO in Hollywood comes to my mind.

Hello Mark,
Sorry I don't know the body # of the Rometsch. Too dumb to worry about vitall info in my younger days. The car did have a " crackle-black " painted dash board , seems to me as professionally done.
Do you have pix of your car(then and now)?
Please email me

those taillights... the beetle rear bumper...that weird side trim and the odd headlights... mean we should be able to identify it via photo records after a bit of research. I have photos somewhere of a dark grey primer car with those 356 taillights from the 80's... I'll need to dig. I think it is Merrills car now... and the photos are from Metalmieister's in the early 90's. He might remember.
The taillight hole patch would be easy to see from underneath unless the work was finished underneath too... and superbly. So even if the car has been restored to orig now... we will likely figure it out unless it is one of the two stashed away in Southern Cal (the one that wasn't a wreck)
I am not sure when those two hidden cars are gonna come out of hiding... it could be decades.... and one is a wreck from the 50's so I don't think it is that one... I can't get the owner to say a word. I have met him and tried to get photos etc... nothing will come of it. last time I saw him was 10 years ago at a show... and I have not heard ANYONE ever talk about him since except the two other people that told me of his existence.
blah blah blah... I think it is Merrill's... somebody can confirm the taillight story...and that will be the end of it. |

Can anyone trace the previous owners/history of this one, going by the license plate? Or is it already known? This is the one that surfaced in Philly a few years back.

Thanks for posting the "Philly Rometsch" pictures.
"philly Rometsch" is definitly NOT my Rometsch. Too many differences:
CA black plates numbers doesn't match, interior rear view ,outside rear view mirror wrong location, Porsche tail lights and 2 bullet tail lights, body mouldings and lack of, F Rometsch plate and none on my car, my car did not have any rust (when I had it anyways)........
We'll keep searching....
