Well, let me tell you that the guy who changed your fuel lines hasn't done a good job. I am not in favour of putting those cheap plastic fuel filters in the engine compartiment and without clamps....
Too me, it's fire guarantee. It's very stupid. Put the fuel filter under the tank if you want one. Or replace the metal fuel filter in the tank if rusted. Note that the fuel pump also has a standard fuel filter, so there is no need to put those cheap plastic onces if the filter in the tank is in good condition....
What do other members think ?

Is there a metal fuel filter inside the tank?

I tried scouring the fuel section in the Bentley just now but didn't see any mention of fuel filters at all. (and certainly no mention of those cheap plastic ones.)

ive got some nice clamps, just get some new hose and do away with the filters then?

There should be a brass screen in the tank as I recall. It may not be there now, after 40+ years and who knows how many owners. It's ok to have a plastic filter in there, but don't put it directly above the distributor, like it was in the first pics. How it is now is fine, as long as it is not rubbing. If they replaced the lines, then slap some clamps on there. Two filters is overkill, though.

so which is the overkill filter then? the one coming from the tank to the pump or from the pump to the carb?

thanks for the great helpful info!

edited to add: Note I do now see the 'strainer' in the picture at the bottom of the tank. in the graph in bentley it almost looks like a screw coming up into the tank from the bottom where the hose connects.

The one coming from the pump to the carb.

Get rid of both fuel filters or your polished turn will become a well-roasted turd. Plastic filters do not belong in a hot engine compartment. Put a metal one on the line coming out of the tunnel to the left of the tranny under the car.
