| Anyone know what the outer rim color should be on a horizon blue oval? I know what the centers should be. If you have an original car that still has color on the wheels, lets see a picture. |

Centres should be L82 Silver White
Rims should be L33 Greyish Blue

| So where did you find that information? I have looked at Wolfsburg West, but like every other year, most of the detailed stuff like wheel rim color is missing. |

It is listed in one of my factory colour combination charts.

| Very nice! Thanks for that info. That is a nice collection. I wonder why WW doesnt have that info? Regardless of that, Do you happen to have the wheel color combo for a 1960 vert that is L264 Rock gray? Its a one year only color and only for verts. |

Yes, wheel rims and centres were L87 Pearl White on Rock Grey verts.
All 1960 verts had L87 wheels, except Slate Blue verts. They had L437 White Blue. |

| L264 rock grey wasnt a one year only color. I have a 58 and just received the certificate today stating it was rock grey. |

I would contact the museum again, and get them to double check the chassis number they looked up. Rock Grey is not a 1958 colour, and it wasn't available in 1958, it was available in 1960. If it was on a later vert like a 61 or 62, I could understand it, as it could have been a special order because the customer liked the older color. But this could not be the case, as Rock Grey didn't exist in 1958. |

Pretty much what I thought. Anyone have a good picture of a Horizon Blue Oval with the proper Greyish Blue wheels?
Part of me thinks that H.B wheels will look better than the G.B....maybe not. |

They are Horizon Blue. I think that Greyish Blue wheels would look weird, but then again, personal preference. |

Original is:
(EDIT - I was wrong :) )
I was able to obtain the original spare wheel for my Horizon Blue oval, and the color(s) match what I found out when I researched this a few months ago.
I am about to paint my rims to match the original spare. The car was on Fuchs for a while, now back on stock. |

| What is your proof that horizon blue was a wheel color? I cant find any information other than the color chart that was originally posted. |

| I would think that noting the color on an original spare wheel or an original wheel for a Horizon Blue car would be proof enough. All of my rims were Horizon Blue and Pearl White before the restoration, I even went back and looked at my Restoration of My Car Scrap Book to confirm this. This is kind of like asking, "Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?" Greyish Blue wheels on a Horizon Blue car would look really strange. Pearl White and Horizon Blue wheels on a horizon blue car - thing of beauty. I have never seen any documentation to the contrary. In an earlier post on this subject IN2VWS says that it is listed on one of his factory colour combination charts. Maybe, but it still would look strange. |

I don't pretend to have any scientific proof :)
someone had PM'd me some info on this
then I got my original 1957 spare wheel back... It still has a reaaally old looking "Volkswagen Canada" bias-ply tire, the rim is the exact same color as the rest of the car (horizontblau) and a lighter shade I was told is pearl white.
I need to take photos of it!! |

It all depends on where your car was made/assembled.
The colors I have posted are for German built cars, NOT Australian/Brazillian/Canadian etc. |
