For the righ t price I'll sell my curtain rods. I see complete stets for $100 n up to $150. What'd be doable for you? I was thinking of upgrading or trying something else anyways. Plus, already sold my curtains. Hit me up if youre interested.

I was able to fine ONE set in driving distance from me, and it was "mysteriously stolen overnight from [his] shop!" after I paid a low price for them ;) oh well…

I got tired of being quoted $80 shipping for a $20 set of rods, so I made three trips to the Ace Hardwares in my area, and each store had one aluminum rod that matched the dimensions of the three Westy rod perfectly. I used the existing holes for the drivers side and the rear upper and lower, and countersunk the OG Westy screws properly!

I used my Armstrong metal bender to mimic the contour of the originals, and I thought they turned out great!

My curtains shown there are the cheapest fabric I could buy, which my mom helped me sew magnets in to. Since the magnet sheath was already sewn, I slipped them on. They're not particularly good, but they're better than nothing in the 90*+ days we're seeing already. I have a lower bungee rod I'll be using for my new set of Duvetyne black curtains when I sew them properly.

Excellent! If you want something done right, do it yourself. But dude the sun is going to eat them curtains up.

Those curtains were a dollar a yard last summer. I think I've gotten my use out of them! And better curtains than my upholstery ;)

I'm still looking for orange plaid curtains for shows, but for camping (which is 90% of my usage,) I'll be using duvetyne, which is a thin fireproof blanket material that we use in the movie industry. We focus 20,000 watt lights on it for 12+ hours a day and it doesn't discolor or shrink. I think when I spray it with the UV protectant it should outlast the human species.

This is a great tip. Did you end up making some curtains out of this stuff?

I checked it out and you can get this stuff for CHEAP it seems...

Ha! Zombie thread!

I still have 100 feet of the stuff bundled away in storage. Emma of GoBigEmma made me some orange sunbrella fabric curtains year and they look so good I’ll never go back to black. If you’re not in a hurry I’ll mail you somebody yardage in October so you can try it out.

Not for free.....
We also use this material in tradeshow industry

There is always scrap pieces being thrown away
That are big enough to create a
Set of curtains
Always black.........

If you want to keep the morning sun,
Or other cars headlights out.....
This stuff works great

Although my bus has a nice set of curtains

I have a few pieces with magnets glued onto corners
That I can put anywhere when I need them

So here is my take away then.

Want resistant curtains that repel the sunlight? Hang outside a production studio and dumpster dive for some old nasty, dusty, god knows how old fabric. But it's like a Model T - only in black.

Want some curtains that repel sunlight? Buy the dang color you want and make some awesome curtains.

Is that correct? Cheapass VW owners

Hahahahaha
Hahahahaha

My point is
if your a light sleeper and need total black out
Or you have other reasons to want your windows completely blacked out

Black Duvetyne is a excellent choice

Wherever / however you get it..........

I think for any other reason not a good choice of material to use

Yeah, this duvatine stuff is serious shit for blocking out light, but you won’t win any car shows.

Again, anyone that wants a free sample and order contact should PM me in October when I’m home.
