I think the build thread is in his forum. |

After 6,000 flawless miles (other than munching an alternator!) I have decided that the Double Cab needs a new home. Buy it at the link below for less than the value of the engine, transaxle and EFI set up.

I have added too many cars to my collection and I must either build another place to store them, or I needed to pick one to liquidate and the double cab didn't make the cut. |

Only 28G's? I'm gonna go get a paper route! :D I love a fast bus, if it was mine it would be getting it's neck rung every day! In fact that's how I want to die, doing 130 plus in a vw bus on a crazy road passing everyone and losing it while lighting a hooter of skunk, but that's just me. :D |

Yep, not a regular old VW and it doesn't have much of a VW price tag; however I was amazed to see stock ones selling for near 20K..
I turned down 3 offers for it today, it either sells for the asking price or I'll keep it.. Not like I have to sell it and keeping it has so many positives... I just have to build another area for storage and I don't have time for that. |

You should of asked for 32k then. That way you settle at 28k  Dont tell me you dont know that sales Jedi mind trick? |

No tricks employed here.. Asking price is 28, taking price is 28 and not a penny less. I don't have time to negotiate, play or work with "tricks".

$28K seems more than fair to me and i consider myself to be a good judge of the value of this vintage of bus. i installed one of jake's turnkey engines in a customer's '60 crew cab this summer and i know what he paid for just the engine. plus it was a lot smaller displacement than the engine in this bay DC, plus no porsche trans etc. it should sell in a fairly short time. |

Thanks, Scott...
I've turned down 4 offers today, one of which was very tempting and from one of my previous customers who owns 3 Raby engines already. I hate advertising cars for sale and its been a long while since I sold anything out of my collection.
Anyone that knows the true value of the components/ engine/ install can see the value clearly. I don't care if it sells or not :-)
(That probably means it will sell sooner rather than later!)
BTW- When this thread started the engine I had planned on putting in this Bus was a 2.4L that made more HP and less torque than the engine that I actually installed; which is 2.8L. I used the 2.4 engine for another project :-) |

Sold. New owner appreciates what it is, that's more important than anything. |

Back on the market, or I'll just keep it... The buyer didn't understand what this vehicle really is and when I sensed that we both took a step back and reviewed the deal. It was a mutual agreement that it wasn't for him.
Something like this isn't for everyone, even if they can afford it. |

Yep, I have sold very few of the cars I have built... Actually, come to think of it I still own all of them, even the one I restored as a kid I bought back two years ago.
I am being really picky about who is able to say they own this one. I keep getting a ton of interest, but the right person hasn't came my way yet. Several have had the cash, but I don't give a damn about that.
The main thing is that someone appreciates what this truck is, and doesn't want or expect a show vehicle.
Its a damn truck and needs to be used; thats why I built it.. Else I would have made it shine and look good like every other VW that gets hauled everywhere on a trailer to make a fashion statement. |

Good for you. Burn off the gee whiz wowee factor and see who is left standing. Then sell it to someone who isn't going to make you wince when you look at what the hell they do to your art.

The Double Cab is sold. It went home to a VW dealer that will use it to tow other vehicles, deliver parts and support operations.
Perfect buyer, perfect application. |
