A few people have emailed me recently because they are not receiving the registration/activation email when they either register for the site or change their email to Yahoo.
They do receive normal emails sent from my account.
If you are on Yahoo, make sure you check your Spam or Bulk Mail folder as Yahoo may be putting the automated site emails in one of those folders.
If Yahoo has a "white list" of safe email addresses or web sites, please add the following email addresses to those lists:
[email protected] (me, also used by the site for some emails)
[email protected] (email used by the web site to send out notifications, including classifieds contacts from buyers)
If anyone has any advice, feel free to provide it. |

| I got a stack of "message delayed" notifications from Yahoo today so if you have yahoo, you may want to contact their customer support to tell not to block or delay messages from thesamba.com |

| I've had this problem with a lot of emails from this site. They show up hours later and end up a page or two back so I never get them. |

| The messages ceased soon after my post above and I contacted Yahoo so hopefully they set my site as safe. |

I've been getting hundreds of "delayed" messages from Yahoo recently so if you have Yahoo, feel free to email them to tell them to stop delaying messages from the site as suspected spam.
As far as I can tell, it's only Classifieds Alerts that are being delayed
Quote: Warning: message 1NcfuN-0004UJ-1S delayed 24 hour
Delay reason: SMTP error from remote mail server after initial connection:
host c.mx.mail.yahoo.com [206.190.54.127]: 421 4.7.0 [TS02] Messages from <Samba IP> temporarily deferred due to user complaints - 4.16.56.1; see http://postmaster.yahoo.com/421-ts02.html
No action is required on your part. Delivery attempts will continue for
some time, and this warning may be repeated at intervals if the message
remains undelivered. Eventually the mail delivery software will give up,
and when that happens, the message will be returned to you.
Note that it's not really user complaints, it's just their automated system thinking my site is sending out too many emails to Yahoo accounts.
I have already contacted them but they are slow to respond. |

| Does the site have any security or authentication certificates? |

If you are talking about the ability to SSL, no.
Otherwise, please contact me privately to discuss this as I suspect it is something that should be discussed off-line. |

As of today, it looks like ALL emails sent from the site are being rejected by Yahoo.
Anything sent from [email protected] or [email protected]
If you are on the site and have a Yahoo account, please contact them to let them know you are not getting any Forums notifications, classifieds alerts, and so on.
I have contacted them multiple times and they have been sending me form letters or unhelpful responses instead of clearing up this issue so additional emails from site members may help.
Thank you. |

| i use yahoo exclusively for samba stuff. while i don't think i am totally missing emails through the classifieds, they are definitely taking a very long time to be received. i did a test email through one of my ads, it took over 14 hours to arrive in my mailbox. |

Yes, it's mostly the alerts that are being blocked but a few new users have also told me they never got their initial sign up/active new account emails. If they got them later I would not know but one was over a day old.
I can see from my email rejects that you personally have not received 3 alerts as they were blocked so many times over a 72 hour period that my web site eventually quit trying to send them and they were purged from the mail queue. |

Everett - did you contact them through http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/helpcentral/ or elsewhere?
You may want to post some friendly feedback at http://ymailupdates.com/blog/ since this has been going on so long. They are pretty clear they aren't a support forum but it might not be a bad idea to put some visibility to the ongoing issue. My $0.02
edit: it may be helpful if someone getting these delayed emails could post the full headers. |

If you are getting anything at all you should be getting everything. |

i changed my email account to one that is not yahoo. i sent an email to myself through one of my ads, and it showed up almost instantly.
however, i prefer to use the yahoo account, so what can i do to complain or report this issue to yahoo? |

I just completed a customer service form with Yahoo. In it, I included a step-by-step process of how classified responses are not getting through. Hopefully, the technician can figure out what is going on from this.
I tried replying to myself on one of my adds and it didn't work. I Recently got yelled at for not replying to a prospective customer (via PM) on another...that one sorted out alright though in the end.
I will post the reply received by Yahoo. |

I believe you use the link mentioned above
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/helpcentral/
and click "Contact Us" at the top of that page.
I am not familiar with Yahoo but someone else reported they had an online chat session with a support person.
He did not state how he initiated that report.
If anyone has direct instructions for a Yahoo Mail user on how to report an issue, please post here. |

Submitted a report at Yahoo.
I'll create a new mail account for samba classifieds until this gets cleared up. |

You know, now that I saw this post it makes a little sense to me. I thought that I had not been receiving all of the messages from the board, but thought it was just my imagination. As I would check the board and see messages that I had subscribed to that were updated and I didnt receive an e-mail.
I, too have a bellsouth account that has been transferred over to Yahoo. I bet that might be the problem. |
